Plans have been unveiled to build a £59m leisure centre and council HQ on a former mining site in Swadlincote, South Derbyshire.
The complex is earmarked for Cadley Park, with work hoped to start as early as September next year.
Designed by CPMG Architects, the scheme features a large glass-fronted leisure centre at ground level with an open-plan office hub above.
South Derbyshire District Council has launched a public consultation on the plans for the Cadley Park site off William Nadin Way, ahead of a planning application expected before the end of the year.
The new hub would replace the ageing Green Bank Leisure Centre on Civic Way, which would be demolished once the replacement facility opens.
Council leader Robert Pearson said: “A project like this is complicated and there has been a huge amount of work going on in the background to get us to this stage.
“But of course, these key milestones in the programme are the most exciting, as we all get to take a sneak peek at what’s been happening, and the plans for this future new addition to our district.”
