Speller Metcalfe has appointed Mark Castle as its first Non-Executive Chair with the industry veteran joining the Board in January.
Castle brings over 40 years of construction industry experience to the role.
He was Chief Operating Officer at Mace for 16 years until 2021 following leadership stints at Wates and Structure Tone and chaired trade body Build UK from 2017-2019.
Castle currently serves as a Non-Executive Chair for both Eleco and Triangle Fire Group, and as a Non-Executive Director at Taylor Wimpey.
Joint Managing Director James Speller said: “Mark brings with him outstanding experience and a deep understanding of our industry that will help shape our strategic direction and enhance the forward-thinking culture that defines our business.
“His appointment reflects both the confidence and ambition of our business as we look ahead to the next 30 years.”
Fellow MD Adrian Speller added: “Bringing in an independent Chair will strengthen our governance as we grow, while preserving the essence of who we are – a family-run business that works collaboratively to innovate and excel for the betterment of the industry, and we’re excited to work with Mark as we continue to build a responsible and resilient business for the future.”
Castle said: “I am delighted to be taking up the role of Chair at Speller Metcalfe and look forward to working with the Board to support them through the next stage of their journey. The company’s reputation places it at the forefront of the industry, and I’m pleased to be joining at such an exciting point in its growth story.”
