Spanish contracting giant Ferrovial is putting its global support services division, which includes Amey up for sale.<\/p>\n

A statement from the firm said:\u00a0 “The company has entrusted an external consultant to explore the potential divestment of all or part of the assets of the services division of which Ferrovial owns directly or indirectly.”<\/p>\n

Goldman Sachs is to gauge interest in the sale of the division, which also includes road operations in North America.<\/p>\n

Amey crashed to a \u00a3190m loss in 2017 after writing off \u00a3208m on its highways contract with Birmingham City Council following a long-running payment dispute over quality of works.<\/p>\n

The firm was also hit with a \u00a348m hit\u00a0on the M8 improvement project in Scotland.<\/p>\n

This forced Ferrovial\u00a0step in to\u00a0support Amey\u2019s balance sheet with a \u00a3200m parent company loan.<\/p>\n

Last year’s loss came on top\u00a0of reported losses of \u00a344m in 2016.<\/p>\n

Amey is one of a trio of support services contractors being monitored by the Cabinet Office following the collapse\u00a0of Carillion.<\/p>\n
