{"id":1157,"date":"2018-12-05T13:26:11","date_gmt":"2018-12-05T13:26:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cita.co.uk\/news\/?p=1157"},"modified":"2018-12-05T13:26:11","modified_gmt":"2018-12-05T13:26:11","slug":"network-rail-awards-first-cp6-contracts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cita.co.uk\/news\/network-rail-awards-first-cp6-contracts\/","title":{"rendered":"Network Rail awards first CP6 contracts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Railway specialists Story Contracting and AmcoGiffen have bagged the first major contracts to be let by Network Rail for the CP6 control period from 2019 to 2024.<\/p>\n<p>The contracts are the first of three that will be let for Scotland and North East structures and building renewals and enhancements, worth together \u00a3645m<\/p>\n<p>Story Contracting picked up the \u00a3135m deal for renewals and enhancements work in Scotland, while AmcoGiffen has secured work on the London North East route valued at around \u00a3190m.<\/p>\n<p>The remaining and most significant work-bank \u2018Lot 1\u2019, will be announced later this year and is valued at a further \u00a3320m.<\/p>\n<p>As well as the renewals and enhancements framework, SNE will also name its two geotechnical framework partners shortly that will share \u00a3147m of work.<\/p>\n<p>The awards are the first of Network Rail\u2019s CP6 contracts to be let following the Office of Rail and Road\u2019s final determination, which confirmed \u00a335bn of funding for rail maintenance and renewals.<\/p>\n<p>Scotland North East and Southern regions are anticipated to hold the largest work-banks for the coming five-years, with over \u00a35bn of renewals spend estimated per region in addition to substantial network-wide upgrades.<\/p>\n<p>Southern will be the next region to announce its contract awards next month.<\/p>\n<div class=\"break-out-box\">\n<h3>Two Scotland and North East frameworks for CP6<\/h3>\n<h3>Framework 1 : Renewals and Enhancements<\/h4>\n<p>Lot 1: SNE \u2013 Award in December\u2013 value \u00a3320m<\/p>\n<p>Lot 2: SCO &#8211; value \u00a3135m \u2013 awarded to Story Contracting<\/p>\n<p>Lot 3: LNE <\/strong>\u2013 value \u00a3190m \u2013 awarded to <strong>AmcoGiffen (Amalgamated Construction Ltd)<\/strong><\/p>\n<h4>Framework2: Geotech<\/h4>\n<p>Lot 1:\u00a0SCO &#8211; Award December \u2013 value \u00a347m<\/p>\n<p>Lot 2: LNE &#8211; Award December &#8211; value \u00a3100m<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>John MacArthur, director of Story Scotland, said: \u201cThe award also supports our growth plans in Scotland and our vision to provide a highly professional turn-key service to the construction industry, where we deliver rail and civils infrastructure with our in-house labour resource.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Andries Liebenberg, managing director AmcoGiffen, said: &#8220;We are delighted to have been appointed in partnership with Network Rail, delivering this programme of significant rail infrastructure investment.
