{"id":1459,"date":"2018-12-17T01:23:11","date_gmt":"2018-12-17T01:23:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cita.co.uk\/news\/?p=1459"},"modified":"2018-12-17T01:23:11","modified_gmt":"2018-12-17T01:23:11","slug":"bam-confirmed-for-facebook-uk-hq-job","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cita.co.uk\/news\/bam-confirmed-for-facebook-uk-hq-job\/","title":{"rendered":"BAM confirmed for Facebook UK HQ job"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BAM has been confirmed to build Facebook&#8217;s new 415,000 sq ft headquarters building at the King&#8217;s Cross development in London.<\/p>\n<p>The contract is thought to be worth over \u00a3200m and ranks as BAM Construction&#8217;s largest project.<\/p>\n<p>It is also a consolation for the BAM Kings Cross team, which had originally been earmarked to build Google&#8217;s 1m sq ft UK HQ at the regeneration scheme.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ad-mpu ad-mpu-inline\">\n<div class=\"sleeve\"><a data-ad-id=\"136297\" href=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/themes\/constructionenquirer\/adclick.php?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ciob.org%2Ffellowship-fciob%3Futm_source%3Dconstruction-enquirer%26utm_medium%3Dbanner%26utm_campaign%3Dconstructionenq-ads\" onclick=\"track_ad_click(this);\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Fellowship MPU.gif\"\/><\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>But this was lifted from the firm&#8217;s grasp after an eleventh-hour decision by Google to take the project back to the drawing board for a major redesign.<\/p>\n<p>The buildings will span plot T2 and T3 on the northern part of the site and will become known as 11-21 Canal Reach when they are finished in early 2021.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/P_KXC_T2_DEV_001_N22-800x450.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-135190\" src=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/P_KXC_T2_DEV_001_N22-800x450.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"790\" height=\"444\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Designed by architect Bennetts Associates the two curving Facebook buildings are expected to be rated BREEAM Outstanding offices.<\/p>\n<p>The building on plot T2 will be 12 storeys high at its highest point at the southern end of the site, stepping down to nine storeys towards the north. There will be impressive roof terraces with views across the city.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/11-21-Canal-Reach-Facebook.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-267685\" src=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/11-21-Canal-Reach-Facebook.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1078\" height=\"708\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>BAM is onsite already with a substantial enabling and substructure works package before the main scheme commences in earnest.<\/p>\n<p>Construction Director Ewen Hunter, who has led for BAM on several of the buildings at King\u2019s Cross, said: \u201cNothing at King\u2019s Cross is ordinary.
