to launch \u00a32bn offsite schools framework"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Department for Education is to pitch plans to contractors for a radical overhaul of its latest\u00a0schools framework as it presses to deliver a \u00a32bn pipeline through offsite methods of construction.<\/p>\n<p>The move follows Government&#8217;s commitment in the last Budget to favour\u00a0modern methods of construction\u00a0for public infrastructure schemes from 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Procurement chiefs now aim to deliver up to 100 new school projects a year by 2023, making it the largest offsite framework so far.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\n<div class=\"ad-mpu ad-mpu-inline\">\n<div class=\"sleeve\"><a data-ad-id=\"102889\" href=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/themes\/constructionenquirer\/adclick.php?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.course-info.co.uk%2F%3Futm_source%3Dconstruction-enquirer%26utm_medium%3Dbanner%26utm_campaign%3Dconstructionenq-ads\" onclick=\"track_ad_click(this);\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/CSP-CE-295x245-Frames.gif\"\/><\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>DfE is seeking views on the\u00a0development of the new framework using design for manufacture and assembly and other offsite methods at a major briefing event on 22 January at the Manufacturing Technology Centre in Coventry.<\/p>\n<p>It will rank as the largest DfMA framework yet from Government and will use the greatest amount of componentised design for efficiency and savings.<\/p>\n<p>After soar-away cost inflation on previous schools frameworks, a key aim is for bidders to\u00a0match or come in below DfE funding targets with progressive cost reductions by volume during the life of the framework.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\n<div class=\"ad-mpu ad-mpu-inline\">\n<div class=\"sleeve\"><a data-ad-id=\"165577\" href=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/themes\/constructionenquirer\/adclick.php?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.haki.com%2Fproduct%2Fhaki-stair-towers%2F%3Futm_source%3Dconstruction-enquirer%26utm_medium%3Dbanner%26utm_campaign%3Dconstructionenq-ads\" procurement, the DfE is developing the GEN 5 standardised design solution for schools.<\/p>\n<p>At its heart will be a BIM model that includes a 3D design and specification that will promote standard components suitable for efficient manufacture.<\/p>\n<p>GEN 5 is a development of primary school design concepts but the intention is that the principles will be developed and applied to secondary schools and other school types.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\n<div class=\"ad-mpu ad-mpu-inline\">\n<div class=\"sleeve\"><a data-ad-id=\"94603\" href=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/themes\/constructionenquirer\/adclick.php?url=https%3A%2F%2Fen-gb.viewpoint.com%2F%3Futm_source%3Dconstruction-enquirer%26utm_medium%3Dbanner%26utm_campaign%3Dconstructionenq-ads\" solution pack is currently under development and the concepts will be shared at the market engagement day.<\/p>\n<p>It is intended that the proposed framework will supplement the existing DfE Construction Framework and will be used for the delivery of suitable projects from DfE\u2019s direct and funded capital programmes.<\/p>\n<p>Suppliers should register their interest by via the Bravo
