{"id":1575,"date":"2018-12-19T09:23:33","date_gmt":"2018-12-19T09:23:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cita.co.uk\/news\/?p=1575"},"modified":"2018-12-19T09:23:33","modified_gmt":"2018-12-19T09:23:33","slug":"mears-chairman-bob-holt-retires-after-23-years","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cita.co.uk\/news\/mears-chairman-bob-holt-retires-after-23-years\/","title":{"rendered":"Mears chairman Bob Holt retires after 23 years"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mears chairman Bob Holt has decided to step down with his role being taking over by investment banker and former Treasury civil servant Kieran Murphy in the New Year.<\/p>\n<p>Holt, aged 64,\u00a0built the then little known Gloucestershire\u00a0contractor up from a \u00a312m business with 83 staff, leading Mears\u2019 flotation on the stock market in 1996, to today\u2019s \u00a3900m group operating in the care and housing maintenance sectors with over 12,000 staff.<\/p>\n<p>He is also chairman of maintenance contractor Sureserve, formerly known as Lakehouse.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\n<div class=\"ad-mpu ad-mpu-inline\">\n<div class=\"sleeve\"><a data-ad-id=\"145848\" href=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/themes\/constructionenquirer\/adclick.php?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.rics.org%2Fuk%2Fproducts%2Fdata-products%2Fdemo%2F%3Futm_source%3Dconstruction-enquirer%26utm_medium%3Dbanner%26utm_campaign%3Dconstructionenq-ads\" onclick=\"track_ad_click(this);\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Construction Enquirer MPU.jpg\"\/><\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Murphy has spent much of his career working in finance.<\/p>\n<p>He joined the civil service after university, spending 8 years at HM Treasury. His subsequent executive career was in the City, firstly at investment bank Kleinwort Benson, and, more recently, at corporate finance advisory firm Gleacher Shacklock,<\/p>\n<p>Murphy has previously been on the board of Kingspan Group and is chair at the Ordnance Survey, Great Britain&#8217;s national mapping business.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\n<div class=\"ad-mpu ad-mpu-inline\">\n<div class=\"sleeve\"><a data-ad-id=\"216019\" href=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/themes\/constructionenquirer\/adclick.php?url=https%3A%2F%2Fnoticeboard-auth.conquest.ltd.uk%2Fhome%3Futm_campaign%3Dnotice_board%26utm_medium%3Dbanner%26utm_source%3Dconstruction_enquirer\" onclick=\"track_ad_click(this);\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Noticeboard-Advert-Con Enq (1).gif\"\/><\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>David Miles, Chief Executive, Mears, said:<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\u201cI am pleased to welcome Kieran Murphy to the board.
