{"id":1775,"date":"2019-01-04T09:04:15","date_gmt":"2019-01-04T09:04:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cita.co.uk\/news\/?p=1775"},"modified":"2019-01-04T09:04:15","modified_gmt":"2019-01-04T09:04:15","slug":"mcalpine-signs-off-86m-nottingham-broadmarsh-revamp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cita.co.uk\/news\/mcalpine-signs-off-86m-nottingham-broadmarsh-revamp\/","title":{"rendered":"McAlpine signs-off \u00a386m Nottingham Broadmarsh revamp"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Shopping centre developer Intu has signed off a deal with Sir Robert McAlpine to deliver the \u00a386m transformation of intu Broadmarsh in Nottingham.<\/p>\n<p>The planned\u00a0revamp will\u00a0involve demolition and reshaping of the centre while shops continue to trade.<\/p>\n<p>Preparatory work has been ongoing throughout 2018 including the relocation of the centre\u2019s management office and improvements to the Wilkos store to make way for The Light cinema.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\n<div class=\"ad-mpu ad-mpu-inline\">\n<div class=\"sleeve\"><a data-ad-id=\"145884\" href=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/themes\/constructionenquirer\/adclick.php?url=http%3A%2F%2Fndtg.training%2Fccdo-card%3Futm_source%3Dconstruction-enquirer%26utm_medium%3Dbanner%26utm_campaign%3Dconstructionenq-ads\" onclick=\"track_ad_click(this);\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/CCDO-Banner-Loop.gif\"\/><\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Sir Robert McAlpine will now start on site delivering the next phase of the project.<\/p>\n<p>The signing of a contract comes after Nottingham City Council\u2019s announcement that it has confirmed its approval to the award of the contract for the intu Broadmarsh redevelopment.<\/p>\n<p>Councillor Jon Collins, Leader of the City Council, said: \u201cI\u2019m pleased intu have signed contracts with Sir Robert McAlpine which means work can finally begin to make major changes to the area, which shows the confidence intu have in Nottingham. 2019 promises to be a busy year in the Broadmarsh area, with the new Broadmarsh Car Park building also due to start on site soon.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\n<div class=\"ad-mpu ad-mpu-inline\">\n<div class=\"sleeve\"><a data-ad-id=\"209475\" href=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/themes\/constructionenquirer\/adclick.php?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.faset.org.uk%2Fguidance-2%2F%3Futm_source%3Dconstruction-enquirer%26utm_medium%3Dbanner%26utm_campaign%3Dconstructionenq-ads\" onclick=\"track_ad_click(this);\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/CE_FASET-MPU_JULY18.gif\"\/><\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cThe redevelopment of the shopping centre and the area has been a long time coming and I\u2019m sure we all look forward to a new intu Broadmarsh, a rejuvenated Car Park, Bus Station and new Central Library, as part of the wider major redevelopment of this part of Nottingham.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Broadmarsh redevelopment programme forms part of the \u00a3600m worth of regeneration in the area such as at Nottingham Station, Station Street, Nottingham Castle, Nottingham College\u2019s City Hub, Unity Square, City Buildings, Carrington Street and much more.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\n<div class=\"ad-mpu ad-mpu-inline\">\n<div class=\"sleeve\"><a data-ad-id=\"94603\" href=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/themes\/constructionenquirer\/adclick.php?url=https%3A%2F%2Fen-gb.viewpoint.com%2F%3Futm_source%3Dconstruction-enquirer%26utm_medium%3Dbanner%26utm_campaign%3Dconstructionenq-ads\" onclick=\"track_ad_click(this);\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Viewpoint-Ban-300x250.gif\"\/><\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Martin Breeden, development director at intu, said: \u201cWe are looking forward to this next stage in developing the centre into a great place to eat, relax and play from day time through to evening. The redeveloped intu Broadmarsh will draw people in from further afield and complement the existing retail offer in Nottingham.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Light and Hollywood Bowl are both committed to the centre and there is significant interest from a number of retailers and restaurants in taking space at the centre.
