London’s Camden Council has confirmed that Wates will deliver the biggest recladding and fire safety project since the Grenfell tragedy.<\/p>\n

Wates Living Space (Maintenance) will replace the cladding, curtain wall and windows on five tower blocks on the Chalcots\u00a0Estate in Swiss Cottage.<\/p>\n

Formal contract documents for the 23 storey blocks will be agreed and signed in February for the project, understood to be worth \u00a390m.<\/p>\n

To help fund the work the Council has secured \u00a380.6m from the Government\u2019s cladding remediation fund.<\/p>\n

This funding will contribute to the cost of the work to remove and replace the cladding and the curtain wall along with associated professional fees.<\/p>\n

Work will\u00a0start on the estate in the summer and is due to finish in summer of 2021 \u2013 four years after the evacuation.<\/p>\n
