{"id":2268,"date":"2019-01-22T08:55:24","date_gmt":"2019-01-22T08:55:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cita.co.uk\/news\/?p=2268"},"modified":"2019-01-22T08:55:24","modified_gmt":"2019-01-22T08:55:24","slug":"100m-clydeside-build-to-rent-development-gets-green-light","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cita.co.uk\/news\/100m-clydeside-build-to-rent-development-gets-green-light\/","title":{"rendered":"\u00a3100m Clydeside build-to-rent development gets green light"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One of Scotland\u2019s first major build-to-rent developments on the banks of the Clyde has got the planning green light.<\/p>\n<p>The high-rise 500-flat Glasgow Waterfront project at Central Quay is being led by PLATFORM_, a developer and operator of private rented housing.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Clyde-bank-platform_.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-280990\" src=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Clyde-bank-platform_.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1632\" height=\"1060\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The \u00a3100m scheme will offer a mix of flats for rent, spread across four blocks ranging from six to 20-storeys in height. Rents will be priced to be affordable to more than 50 per cent of workers locally.<\/p>\n<p>PLATFORM_ expects construction to begin in the third quarter of 2019, with practical completion expected in 2021.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\n<p>Designed by Glasgow-based architects Keppie, the development forms part of a wider masterplan at the Clydeside Central Quay area, which includes 300,000 sq ft of office space and a 150-room hotel as well as new housing.<\/p>\n<p>The build-to-rent sector is expanding rapidly, with nearly 140,000 build-to-rent homes either completed, under construction, or in planning.<\/p>\n<p>Matt Willcock, development director at PLATFORM_, said:<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\u201cThe next phase of the project will begin early this year, starting with appointing contractors with a view to having spades in the ground by the third quarter of 2019.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\n<p>Stuart Patrick, chief executive of Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, said:<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\u201cA development of this scale is a real boost for the Broomielaw, bringing 500 new homes to an area perfectly situated between the city centre and West End.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Not only will it create hundreds of jobs during each phase, but we\u2019re extremely supportive of plans for 300,000 sq ft of commercial space and a 150-room hotel \u2013 adding to the city\u2019s hospitality offering.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\n<p class=\"p1\">\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>from Construction Enquirer http:\/\/bit.ly\/2MoSyMS<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>One of Scotland\u2019s first major build-to-rent developments on the banks of the Clyde has got the planning green light.
