<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\nIt is the third major package of works won bt Balfour Beatty at Hinkley.<\/p>\n
Balfour bagged the electrical works package in a joint venture with NG Bailey in 2015 and the tunneling and marine works package in 2017.<\/p>\n
For the latest deal Balfour will design, supply, install, test and commission a new overhead line spanning 48.4km and crossing through the Mendip Hills in Somerset.<\/p>\n
<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\nOn completion, the new line will connect Hinkley with a new substation in Avonmouth, Bristol.<\/p>\n
Balfour will utilise National Grid\u2019s new T-Pylon design for the fist time on a live transmission asset<\/p>\n
Mark Bullock, Balfour Beatty\u2019s Chief Executive Officer for its Rail and Utilities business, said: \u201cOur extensive knowledge and unique capability in delivering major complex Overhead Line schemes, makes us ideally positioned to play a key role in helping to deliver the first nuclear power station to be built in the UK for more than 20 years.<\/p>\n

Works are due to start this month, with completion expected in summer 2025.<\/p>\n
At construction peak, the project will employ a workforce of over 150.<\/p>\n
