{"id":2528,"date":"2019-01-30T09:16:25","date_gmt":"2019-01-30T09:16:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cita.co.uk\/news\/?p=2528"},"modified":"2019-01-30T09:16:25","modified_gmt":"2019-01-30T09:16:25","slug":"wilmott-dixon-wins-23m-salford-tower-block-revamp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cita.co.uk\/news\/wilmott-dixon-wins-23m-salford-tower-block-revamp\/","title":{"rendered":"Wilmott Dixon wins \u00a323m Salford tower block revamp"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Willmott Dixon has landed another large residential project in Greater Manchester following recent work to build nearly 250 homes in Wythenshawe and Old Trafford.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The latest \u00a322.5m project for housing association Salix Homes will see ageing tower block Canon Green Court in Trinity completely transformed and modernised, along with neighbouring apartment block Westminster House, which will undergo an external facelift.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Working with the architect Corstorphine &amp; Wright, the project will see Willmott Dixon transform the 1960s-era tower block with modern new kitchens, bathrooms, heating systems, sprinkler systems and exterior re-facing and insulation.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_284854\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Canon-Green-Court-as-it-is-now_1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-284854 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Canon-Green-Court-as-it-is-now_1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ageing tower block Canon Green Court<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>As part of the development, an 11-storey apartment block also will be built within the grounds of the expansive site, comprising of 108 one and two-bedroom flats, available under rent-to-buy.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/New-apartment-block-visual.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-284853\" src=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/New-apartment-block-visual.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Both the refurbishment and new-build projects will run concurrently over the next two years. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Lee Sugden, chief executive at Salix Homes, said: \u201cThe start of work on our Canon Green Campus development marks a pivotal moment for Salix Homes and for Salford, and we look forward to seeing work progress on site over the next two years.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cCanon Green Court is an iconic building on the city\u2019s skyline, but it has suffered from lack of investment over the years.
