Developer LCL has launched plans for a \u00a350m mixed-use scheme to transform the St George\u2019s North area of Leicester city centre.<\/p>\n

Design practice, rg+p has come up with a vision for Fleet Village including new apartments alongside 3,000 sq ft of retail units.<\/p>\n

The Enquirer<\/em> understands LCL are in preliminary discussions with a number of contractors but are keen to talk to other companies.<\/p>\n

The developer is hoping that work will start on site in Spring 2019.<\/p>\n

Chris May, partner at Howes Percival, commented on behalf of LCL: \u201cThis area of Leicester has seen little or no growth for the past 15 years and is desperately in need of regeneration.<\/p>\n

“We believe the proposed development, which is expected to create up to 100 new jobs during construction, is the right catalyst for this much needed regeneration.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe scheme seeks to provide a range of new homes to suit the local housing market as well as retail and leisure facilities we feel will benefit the community.<\/p>\n

“Fleet Village represents a major investment for our home city and we\u2019re really excited about what it could mean for those wanting to live, work and play in Leicester.<\/p>\n

“We\u2019re hopeful for a positive outcome from our planning applications very soon.\u201d<\/p>\n

LCL has a strong track record delivering similar schemes in Leicester, having successfully completed 250 apartments at Clyde Court on Erskine Street and Markfield Court off Abbey Park Street.<\/p>\n

James Badley, architectural director at rg+p added: \u201cFleet Village has the potential to become a statement development for Leicester and is certainly one of the largest investments the city\u2019s housing market has seen in recent years.<\/p>\n

“LCL has engaged extensively with the local authorities so we remain optimistic for the development\u2019s future.\u201d<\/p>\n
