Plans\u00a0have been approved for a new \u00a331m logistics and global content creation studio next to Manchester Airport.<\/p>\n

A main contractor is expected to be appointed by the end of this month for the ICON development which will be occupied by online beauty business The Hut Group (THG).<\/p>\n

The\u00a0development will provide a 168,000 sq ft warehouse and 104,000 sq ft of office\u00a0space over four floors.<\/p>\n

Construction information specialist said Bowmer & Kirlkland, Buckingham Group Contracting and McLaren Construction are in the hunt for the job.<\/p>\n

ICON is being developed by Icon\u00a0Industrial – a strategic joint venture by Stoford Developments and investment firm TPG Real\u00a0Estate.<\/p>\n

Dan\u00a0Gallagher, joint managing director of Stoford Developments, said: \u201cWe are\u00a0delighted that THG has chosen ICON as the site for its new logistics and\u00a0global\u00a0content creation studio, it is fantastic news for Icon Manchester Airport and\u00a0for the wider north west region.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is\u00a0the fourth exciting development planned at\u00a0the site, such has been the demand from\u00a0potential occupiers keen to relocate to Icon Manchester\u00a0Airport.<\/p>\n

“The remaining land presents\u00a0potential occupiers with an excellent opportunity to have a unit built to their\u00a0specific requirements\u00a0and continues\u00a0the\u00a0fulfillment of the Airport City masterplan, expanding and enhancing the\u00a0logistical facilities on site.\u201d<\/p>\n

Matthew Moulding,\u00a0Founder and Chief Executive Officer of The Hut Group, said:\u00a0\u201cThis is an exciting time for THG. Following THG\u2019s acquisition and\u00a0integration in 2017 of Hangar 7, the UK\u2019s leading content studio, ICON is our\u00a0next step in expanding the Group\u2019s content production and logistics\u00a0capabilities dramatically.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sir\u00a0Richard Leese, Leader of Manchester City Council, said: \u201cAs a first phase\u00a0investor in Airport City Manchester, THG\u2019s arrival is a major vote of\u00a0confidence in the city and begins to unlock the major potential of Airport City\u00a0as a hub for employment.\u201d<\/p>\n

Icon Industrial acquired the site\u00a0from Airport City Manchester joint venture in July 2017.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0build to suit logistics\/warehouse\u00a0development has\u00a0a gross\u00a0development value of\u00a0around \u00a3100m and\u00a0is already home to occupiers including Amazon and\u00a0DHL.<\/p>\n
