{"id":3104,"date":"2019-02-18T07:26:27","date_gmt":"2019-02-18T07:26:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cita.co.uk\/news\/?p=3104"},"modified":"2019-02-18T07:26:27","modified_gmt":"2019-02-18T07:26:27","slug":"aberdeen-bypass-to-fully-open-on-tuesday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cita.co.uk\/news\/aberdeen-bypass-to-fully-open-on-tuesday\/","title":{"rendered":"Aberdeen bypass to fully open on Tuesday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Aberdeen Bypass will finally fully open on Tuesday morning following s deal between contractors and Transport Scotland.<\/p>\n<p>Joint venture contractors Balfour Beatty and Galliford Try have now provided\u00a0the necessary technical assurances for the River Don Crossing, which were required before the final section of road could open.<\/p>\n<p>The \u00a3745m project being delivered by consortium Aberdeen roads fell behind schedule and is now expected to cost more than \u00a31bn.<\/p>\n<p>The project has been opened in several stages was originally due to be completed in Spring 2018.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\n<div class=\"ad-mpu ad-mpu-inline\">\n<div class=\"sleeve\"><a data-ad-id=\"124439\" href=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/themes\/constructionenquirer\/adclick.php?url=+http%3A%2F%2Fwww.hudsoncontract.co.uk%2Fliability%3Futm_source%3DConEnq%26utm_medium%3DBanner%26utm_campaign%3DFeb19%3Futm_source%3Dconstruction-enquirer%26utm_medium%3Dbanner%26utm_campaign%3Dconstructionenq-ads\" onclick=\"track_ad_click(this);\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/HC-Feb19-ConEnq-Ad.gif\"\/><\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Contractors suffered several setbacks during the project including severe weather, the collapse of third delivery partner Carillion and technical problems on several structures.<\/p>\n<p>This new 4.5-mile\u00a0section of road will link the southern Craibstone to Stonehaven and Charleston section with the Parkhill to Blackdog section in the north.<\/p>\n<p>The Cabinet Secretary for Transport, Michael Matheson, said:\u00a0\u201cWe will continue to work constructively with Aberdeen Roads Limited as it moves into the operational phase of the project and it builds stronger relationships with the community it now serves.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\n<div class=\"ad-mpu ad-mpu-inline\">\n<div class=\"sleeve\"><a data-ad-id=\"92680\" href=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/themes\/constructionenquirer\/adclick.php?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.intersteels.com%3Futm_source%3Dconstruction-enquirer%26utm_medium%3Dbanner%26utm_campaign%3Dconstructionenq-ads\" onclick=\"track_ad_click(this);\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/intersteel_mpu_advert[1].gif\"\/><\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Galliford\u00a0Try is in talks with Transport Scotland regarding significant claims in respect of the contract.<\/p>\n<p>Peter Truscott, chief executive of Galliford Try, said:\u00a0<span class=\"t\">&#8220;<\/span><span class=\"w\">We are pleased that the final section of AWPR will be fully open to traffic on Tuesday 19 February and this vital piece of infrastructure is available to the local community.
