{"id":3260,"date":"2019-02-21T09:36:07","date_gmt":"2019-02-21T09:36:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cita.co.uk\/news\/?p=3260"},"modified":"2019-02-21T09:36:07","modified_gmt":"2019-02-21T09:36:07","slug":"bouygues-signs-off-east-london-town-hall-deal-for-110m","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cita.co.uk\/news\/bouygues-signs-off-east-london-town-hall-deal-for-110m\/","title":{"rendered":"Bouygues signs off East London town hall deal for \u00a3110m"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>East London&#8217;s Borough of Tower Hamlets has signed off a contract with Bouygues to convert the former Royal London Hospital into a town hall.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">Bouygues UK has already been involved in preparatory work since last August on the big conversion project, which is scheduled to open in 2022.<\/p>\n<p>The works will see around 500 people working on site at peak periods.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\n<p>John Biggs, Mayor of Tower Hamlets, said: \u201cThis will be one of the most exciting projects in London. It will be a building for everyone to use, a place to get things done quickly with council, housing and health services under one roof, meeting rooms and spaces for the public, and all in one of the best connected sites in London.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Tower-Hamlets-town-hall.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-162998\" src=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Tower-Hamlets-town-hall.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1412\" height=\"968\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">The building has been designed to achieve an excellent BREEAM rating because of features such as optimised water consumption and the use of renewable energies to generate electricity.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_163001\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Tower-Hamlets-civic-centre-square.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-163001 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Tower-Hamlets-civic-centre-square.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1654\" height=\"1116\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">New council buildings at the rear of the scheme will help form a public square<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"p3\">With a total surface area of 26,700 m<span class=\"s2\">2<\/span>, the new Town Hall will form part of the Whitechapel Vision, one of London\u2019s largest regeneration projects.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">This also includes the construction of a new life sciences campus, seven new public spaces and 3,500 new homes, along with the creation of 5,000 jobs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\n<p class=\"p1\">\n<p class=\"p4\">\n<p>from Construction Enquirer https:\/\/ift.tt\/2T8vyr3<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>East London&#8217;s Borough of Tower Hamlets has signed off a contract with Bouygues to convert the former Royal London Hospital into a town hall.
