{"id":3414,"date":"2019-02-26T13:02:43","date_gmt":"2019-02-26T13:02:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cita.co.uk\/news\/?p=3414"},"modified":"2019-02-26T13:02:43","modified_gmt":"2019-02-26T13:02:43","slug":"stewart-milne-signs-timber-frame-deal-with-lq","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cita.co.uk\/news\/stewart-milne-signs-timber-frame-deal-with-lq\/","title":{"rendered":"Stewart Milne signs timber frame deal with L&#038;Q"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Offsite specialist Stewart Milne Timber Systems has formed a partnership to deliver timber frame for more than 1,500 homes for housing association L&amp;Q.<\/p>\n<p>Stewart Milne,will also support L&amp;Q on bids for standalone contracts in the open market.<\/p>\n<p>The deal forms a key part of L&amp;Q\u2019s Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) strategy which will see all of its new build homes delivered with some form of MMC by 2025 and an entirely off-site manufactured home completed by 2028.<\/p>\n<p>L&amp;Q has plans to build 100,000 homes over the next ten years.<\/p>\n<p>Fiona Fletcher-Smith, Group Director of Development and Sales at L&amp;Q, said \u201cWe are excited to be collaborating with Stewart Milne Timber Systems on our modern methods of construction programme.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Off-site manufacturing offers a range of exciting opportunities, speeding up the delivery and build quality of our developments whilst reducing the costs of projects.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Stewart Milne Timber Systems were selected after demonstrating their ability to design, manufacture, supply and erect residential units up to six storeys tall.<\/p>\n<p>Alex Goodfellow, Group Managing Director of Stewart Milne Timber Systems, said \u201cThis is an ambitious and innovative partnership which lays down a significant marker for how new homes can be built at pace and to exacting design standards.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This strategic alliance and collaboration will allow L&amp;Q to deliver on a number of fronts and we believe they are setting the standard for how we should approach the housing shortfall across the UK.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The closed-panel timber frame structures will initially be used in the construction of L&amp;Q\u2019s new Counties developments at Birnam Mews, Tiddington and Saxon Reach, Milton Keynes, with the first deliveries in Spring 2019.<\/p>\n<p>L&amp;Q\u2019s Academy will accompany this with investment in upskilling apprentices and staff in MMC techniques.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>from Construction Enquirer https:\/\/ift.tt\/2Xq3heQ<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Offsite specialist Stewart Milne Timber Systems has formed a partnership to deliver timber frame for more than 1,500 homes for housing association L&amp;Q.
