{"id":350,"date":"2018-11-12T09:15:27","date_gmt":"2018-11-12T09:15:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cita.co.uk\/news\/?p=350"},"modified":"2018-11-12T09:15:27","modified_gmt":"2018-11-12T09:15:27","slug":"mcavoy-wins-northumbria-offsite-hospital-wing-job","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cita.co.uk\/news\/mcavoy-wins-northumbria-offsite-hospital-wing-job\/","title":{"rendered":"McAvoy wins Northumbria offsite hospital wing job"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\nOffsite construction specialist McAvoy Group has been awarded its largest healthcare project.<\/p>\n<p>The firm has taken a \u00a315m order for a new wing at Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital in Cramlington.<\/p>\n<p>Designed by healthcare specialists P+HS Architects, the new wing will replicate the appearance of the existing hospital which opened in 2015. <\/p>\n<div class=\"ad-mpu ad-mpu-inline\">\n<div class=\"sleeve\"><a data-ad-id=\"95430\" href=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/themes\/constructionenquirer\/adclick.php?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.nasc.org.uk%2Fnews%2F%3Futm_source%3Dconstruction-enquirer%26utm_medium%3Dbanner%26utm_campaign%3Dconstructionenq-ads\" onclick=\"track_ad_click(this);\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/CE_NASC_FREE-GUIDANCE.gif\"\/><\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>It will have a faceted external facade to create curved ends to the wing and will be finished in blue and white render. <\/p>\n<p>Due for completion in Spring 2019, the first floor will be fitted out as part of this contract to accommodate one of the UK\u2019s first purpose-designed Ambulatory Care units, with the other two floors fitted out in the next phase of the development.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ad-mpu ad-mpu-inline\">\n<div class=\"sleeve\"><a data-ad-id=\"242816\" href=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/themes\/constructionenquirer\/adclick.php?url=https%3A%2F%2Fachilles.pages.salesfusion.com%2FBuildingConfidence_Advert_Campaign-Leads_Supplier-2%3Futm_source%3Dconstruction-enquirer%26utm_medium%3Dbanner%26utm_campaign%3Dconstructionenq-ads\" onclick=\"track_ad_click(this);\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/BuildingConfidence-Supplier-DIGITAL-MPU-300x250-for-web.jpg\"\/><\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Using an offsite solution, the 80,000 sq ft wing build programme has been cut in half to less than 12 months. <\/p>\n<p>Raymond Millar, construction director of The McAvoy Group, said: \u201cWe are again pushing the boundaries of offsite construction. This is a highly complex project on a live hospital site. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are integrating with the design of the existing hospital and using offsite construction to deliver the building to a very short programme, achieve exceptional value for money and to the Trust\u2019s stringent quality standards. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have developed a hybrid solution which incorporates both offsite and in-situ building methods and are maximising fit-out in the factory for this first phase to enhance quality and reduce disruption to staff and patients.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"break-out-box\">\n<h3>Hospital project offsite innovations<\/h3>\n<p>It will use larger, bespoke modules up to 14.85m long which have been specially engineered to provide a structural flooring solution that seamlessly integrates with the existing hospital building. <\/p>\n<p>Mechanical ventilation, heating and cooling systems will be installed in the ceiling voids in the McAvoy factory.
