{"id":3618,"date":"2019-03-04T09:27:32","date_gmt":"2019-03-04T09:27:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cita.co.uk\/news\/?p=3618"},"modified":"2019-03-04T09:27:32","modified_gmt":"2019-03-04T09:27:32","slug":"preferred-bidder-for-200m-edinburgh-tram-extension","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cita.co.uk\/news\/preferred-bidder-for-200m-edinburgh-tram-extension\/","title":{"rendered":"Preferred bidder for \u00a3200m Edinburgh tram extension"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Edinburgh City Council has named the preferred bidder to deliver its \u00a3200m tram extension to Newhaven.<\/p>\n<p>A three-way joint venture between Farrans, Sacyr\u00a0of Spain and\u00a0Neopul\u00a0of Brazil, is set to secure a \u00a390m main works contract to\u00a0design and construct the new route from York Place to Newhaven.<\/p>\n<p>If council chiefs vote to proceed with the project on 14 March, a six-month early contractor involvement period will commence, during which the targeted cost will be fully developed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\n<div class=\"ad-mpu ad-mpu-inline\">\n<div class=\"sleeve\"><a data-ad-id=\"120377\" href=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/themes\/constructionenquirer\/adclick.php?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.palmersgroup.co.uk%3Futm_source%3Dconstruction-enquirer%26utm_medium%3Dbanner%26utm_campaign%3Dconstructionenq-ads\" onclick=\"track_ad_click(this);\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/CE_PALMERS-MPU_JAN19.gif\"\/><\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Also\u00a0councillors will be asked to approve the award of the enabling swept path contract to Morrison Utility Services.<\/p>\n<p>Morrison will work ahead of the FSN joint venture contractor to identify and clear any below ground obstructions along the tram route.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\n<div class=\"ad-mpu ad-mpu-inline\">\n<div class=\"sleeve\"><a data-ad-id=\"164828\" href=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/themes\/constructionenquirer\/adclick.php?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.biositesystems.com%2Fconstruction-workforce-difficulties-post-brexit%2F%3Futm_source%3Dconstruction-enquirer%26utm_medium%3Dbanner%26utm_campaign%3Dconstructionenq-ads\" onclick=\"track_ad_click(this);\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/059.1-MPU-300x250 (1).gif\"\/><\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Finance and resources convener councillor Alasdair Rankin said: &#8220;The Trams to Newhaven project team has completed a comprehensive and rigorous procurement exercise to select preferred contractors for both elements of the project.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This process has been exhaustive in its approach, taking on board substantial lessons learned from the previous projects and following best industry practice.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\n<div class=\"ad-mpu ad-mpu-inline\">\n<div class=\"sleeve\"><a data-ad-id=\"93789\" href=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/themes\/constructionenquirer\/adclick.php?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.constructionline.co.uk%2Fevents%2F\" onclick=\"track_ad_click(this);\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Constructionline-MTB-GIF.gif\"\/><\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&#8220;The Finance and Resources Committee will carefully assess and scrutinise the outcome of this procurement process before arriving at a decision.
