Wyllie to retire from Costain after 14 years at helm"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Andrew Wyllie is retiring as CEO of Costain after 14 years leading the business.<\/p>\n<p>His replacement is current <span class=\"co\">managing director of the group&#8217;s natural resources division Alex Vaughan who will take charge in May.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Wyllie will now pursue a non-executive career and he <span class=\"co\">recently took up the presidency of the Institution of Civil Engineers<\/span>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ad-mpu ad-mpu-inline\">\n<div class=\"sleeve\"><a data-ad-id=\"164828\" &#8220;<span class=\"axa\">It has been a great privilege for me to be chief executive of Costain for the last fourteen years.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"axa\">&#8220;Much has been achieved over that time as a result of the combined efforts of an outstanding team and I would like to thank my colleagues for their support and commitment.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"axa\">&#8220;With a clear strategy, strong balance sheet and a record order book, the business is in an excellent position to deliver further growth in the future.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<div \/>\n<\/SCRIPT><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Wyllie unveiled another strong set of results for the year to December 31 2018.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/alex-vaughan.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-299393\" src=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/alex-vaughan-390x299.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"390\" height=\"299\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>Alex Vaughan will take over as\u00a0 CEO in May<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Pre-tax profits dipped slightly to \u00a340.2m from \u00a341.8m as group revenue fell to <span class=\"awp\">\u00a31,489.3m from \u00a31,728.9m.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Costain had an <span class=\"axa\">average month-end net cash balance of \u00a377.1m during the year.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"ad-mpu ad-mpu-inline\">\n<div class=\"sleeve\"><a data-ad-id=\"145884\" href=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/themes\/constructionenquirer\/adclick.php?url=http%3A%2F%2Fndtg.training%2Fccdo-card%3Futm_source%3Dconstruction-enquirer%26utm_medium%3Dbanner%26utm_campaign%3Dconstructionenq-ads\" onclick=\"track_ad_click(this);\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/CCDO-Banner-Loop.gif\"\/><\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Wyllie said the company was well placed to enter a &#8220;<span class=\"axa\">new era defined by the start of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>He said: &#8220;<span class=\"axa\">The Fourth Industrial Revolution is now having a global impact and is characterised by a fusion of technology breakthroughs that are blurring the lines between the physical, digital and biological spheres. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"axa\">&#8220;These breakthroughs are occurring in a number of fields including artificial intelligence, robotics, nanotechnology, quantum computing and biotechnology.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"ad-mpu ad-mpu-inline\">\n<div class=\"sleeve\"><a data-ad-id=\"161795\"
