{"id":3920,"date":"2019-03-12T16:21:56","date_gmt":"2019-03-12T16:21:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cita.co.uk\/news\/?p=3920"},"modified":"2019-03-12T16:21:56","modified_gmt":"2019-03-12T16:21:56","slug":"developer-wanted-for-1-5bn-manchester-innovation-district","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cita.co.uk\/news\/developer-wanted-for-1-5bn-manchester-innovation-district\/","title":{"rendered":"Developer wanted for \u00a31.5bn Manchester innovation district"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The University of Manchester has unveiled ambitious plans to create a \u00a31.5bn innovation district on the site of its North Campus near the planned HS2 station.<\/p>\n<p>It set out its vision for the 26-acre ID Manchester district at the MIPIM property show in Cannes formally starting its search for a development partner to deliver the plan.<\/p>\n<p>The opportunity to develop an innovation district in the heart of the city has arisen\u00a0because the university is relocating its teaching and academic research to its neighbouring main campus, where it has invested more than \u00a31bn in new buildings and facilities.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_302003\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/ID-Manchester-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-302003 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/ID-Manchester-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1852\" height=\"1422\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Mixed-use development opportunity of over 3.5m sq ft in the centre of Manchester<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The University has also invested in significant, new business-facing research facilities at the south end of the ID Manchester site and is now looking for a partner to develop the remaining 16 acres.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/ID-Manchester-3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-302002\" src=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/ID-Manchester-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"582\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Professor Dame Nancy Rothwell, Vice-Chancellor of the university, said : \u201cWe are looking for the very best joint venture partner to work with us to develop this prime site in the heart of the city, which will generate thousands of new jobs and will enhance the reputation of the University and the city as the place where the world\u2019s most valuable ideas are transformed into reality.<\/p>\n<p>Sir Richard Leese, Leader of Manchester City Council: \u201cThe potential of ID Manchester is huge.
