{"id":3938,"date":"2019-03-13T08:21:39","date_gmt":"2019-03-13T08:21:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cita.co.uk\/news\/?p=3938"},"modified":"2019-03-13T08:21:39","modified_gmt":"2019-03-13T08:21:39","slug":"go-ahead-for-600m-south-london-high-rise-scheme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cita.co.uk\/news\/go-ahead-for-600m-south-london-high-rise-scheme\/","title":{"rendered":"Go-ahead for \u00a3600m south London high rise scheme"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Landowner Aviva Investors and leading London developer Galliard Homes have gained\u00a0planning for new \u00a3600 million\u00a0\u2018town centre\u2019 development on London\u2019s Old Kent Road.<\/p>\n<p>The new development will involve construction of the Capital&#8217;s fourth tallest residential tower at 48-storeys, shops, offices and over 1,000 new homes.<\/p>\n<p>Situated at 520 Old Kent Road, the 5-acre\u00a0Cantium Retail Park\u00a0scheme has been designed by local Southwark architectural practices &#8211;\u00a0Brisac Gonzalez and\u00a0Alan Camp Architects.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ad-mpu ad-mpu-inline\">\n<div class=\"sleeve\"><a data-ad-id=\"95430\" href=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/themes\/constructionenquirer\/adclick.php?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.nasc.org.uk%2F%3Futm_source%3Dconstruction-enquirer%26utm_medium%3Dbanner%26utm_campaign%3Dconstructionenq-ads\" onclick=\"track_ad_click(this);\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/NASC scrolling ads for Construction Enquirer.gif\"\/><\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>There will be four buildings rising to 37-storeys, two 11-storey and one of nine-storeys surrounding a central podium. The residential element of the buildings will be mixed tenure with separate cores for private sale, shared ownership and social-rented homes.<\/p>\n<p>The new homes will include a mix of apartments, maisonettes, penthouses and townhouses, and 60,000 sq ft of offices, 24,000 sqft of retail space, 25,144 sqft of flexible space for restaurants, caf\u00e9, cinema and leisure premises and 6,415 sqft of space for cultural facilities such as a youth theatre or mini-opera house. The shops, restaurants and cafes are expected to create up to 580 new jobs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\n<div class=\"ad-mpu ad-mpu-inline\">\n<div class=\"sleeve\"><a data-ad-id=\"120377\" href=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/themes\/constructionenquirer\/adclick.php?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.palmersgroup.co.uk%3Futm_source%3Dconstruction-enquirer%26utm_medium%3Dbanner%26utm_campaign%3Dconstructionenq-ads\" onclick=\"track_ad_click(this);\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/CE_PALMERS-MPU_JAN19.gif\"\/><\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The podium and one of the 11-storey buildings fronting onto the Old Kent Road will provide the majority of the development\u2019s commercial floorspace, with 10 per cent of the space at discounted rent for start-up firms and small and medium-sized entreprises.<\/p>\n<p>The new development will have a six-year construction programme.
