{"id":3982,"date":"2019-03-14T08:10:19","date_gmt":"2019-03-14T08:10:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cita.co.uk\/news\/?p=3982"},"modified":"2019-03-14T08:10:19","modified_gmt":"2019-03-14T08:10:19","slug":"brunel-uni-starts-race-for-40m-teaching-block","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cita.co.uk\/news\/brunel-uni-starts-race-for-40m-teaching-block\/","title":{"rendered":"Brunel Uni starts race for \u00a340m teaching block"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Brunel University London has called up firms to bid for a \u00a340m teaching and learning building at its Middlesex campus.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0seven-storey facility will replace\u00a0the 1968 John Crank building on the university\u2019s main campus and is timetabled to be completed in 2021.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\n<p>Architect Penoyre &amp; Prasad and engineer BDP designed the building, which would form one side of an open quad area at the Uxbridge campus, bounded by the Grade II-listed Central Lecture Block, the Brutalist-style Halsbury Building and the recently over-clad Hamilton Building.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_238301\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Brunel-University-North-West-Corner_Penoyre-Prasad-0x740-c-default.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-238301 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Brunel-University-North-West-Corner_Penoyre-Prasad-0x740-c-default.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1110\" height=\"740\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">New-look quad area with new teaching building<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The design benefits from a mixed mode ventilation approach, an optimised facade, ground source heat pumps and a roof-mounted PV array.
