{"id":4012,"date":"2019-03-14T12:10:42","date_gmt":"2019-03-14T12:10:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cita.co.uk\/news\/?p=4012"},"modified":"2019-03-14T12:10:42","modified_gmt":"2019-03-14T12:10:42","slug":"plan-for-250m-new-tees-crossing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cita.co.uk\/news\/plan-for-250m-new-tees-crossing\/","title":{"rendered":"Plan for \u00a3250m new Tees Crossing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Plans for a \u00a3250m new Tees Crossing to ease congestion of the A19 Tees Viaduct have gone out to public consultation.<\/p>\n<p>Two options are being considered with the most likely\u00a0involving building a new two-lane bridge parallel to the existing A19 viaduct.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\n<div class=\"ad-mpu ad-mpu-inline\">\n<div class=\"sleeve\"><a data-ad-id=\"145884\" href=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/themes\/constructionenquirer\/adclick.php?url=http%3A%2F%2Fndtg.training%2Fccdo-card%3Futm_source%3Dconstruction-enquirer%26utm_medium%3Dbanner%26utm_campaign%3Dconstructionenq-ads\" onclick=\"track_ad_click(this);\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/CCDO-Banner-Loop.gif\"\/><\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>This would carry traffic travelling northbound while the existing viaduct would be widened to allow for an extra lane of southbound traffic.<\/p>\n<p>Known as the Tees Viaduct Capacity Enhancement Option this has been budgeted to cost \u00a3200m-\u00a3250m.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\n<div class=\"ad-mpu ad-mpu-inline\">\n<div class=\"sleeve\"><a data-ad-id=\"122797\" href=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/themes\/constructionenquirer\/adclick.php?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%3Futm_source%3Dconstruction-enquirer%26utm_medium%3Dbanner%26utm_campaign%3Dconstructionenq-ads\" onclick=\"track_ad_click(this);\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\"\/><\/a><br \/>\n<SCRIPT language='JavaScript1.1' SRC=\"https:\/\/ad.doubleclick.net\/ddm\/adj\/N6250.2036112CONSTRUCTIONENQUIRE\/B22323192.240763326;sz=300x250;ord=[timestamp];dc_lat=;dc_rdid=;tag_for_child_directed_treatment=;tfua=?\"><br \/>\n<\/SCRIPT><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The\u00a0Tees Valley Combined Authority is also looking at alternative plans\u00a0to construct a larger four-lane bridge parallel to the existing A19 viaduct for north and southbound traffic. This new Tees Viaduct Option would cost more than \u00a3300m.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Screenshot-2019-03-14-at-09.38.46.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-302729\" src=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Screenshot-2019-03-14-at-09.38.46.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1312\" height=\"904\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The preferred route will be announced in autumn and following confirmation of funding from Highways England, construction\u00a0could\u00a0take place from 2023 to 2027.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jonathan Spruce, Interim Strategy Director at Transport for the North, said: \u201cTees Valley has an important role in supporting connectivity across the North. It\u2019s home to world-class industries, a thriving energy sector and major international ports.
