John Sisk & Son has been confirmed as replacement contractor to oversee the completion of the \u00a315m Manchester-Salford Inner Relief Road.<\/p>\n

Since civils contractor Dawnus collapsed Manchester highways maintenance staff have been doing work laying kerbs and surfacing pavements to ensure the site was ready for the new main contractor to get underway.<\/p>\n

Sisk\u00a0will start to mobilise\u00a0on site this week to resuming full work as soon as possible on the Regent Road works.<\/p>\n

Sir Richard Leese, Leader of Manchester City Council, said: \u201cThis has been a challenging situation but I am glad that it has been resolved so quickly and that this vital work is now getting back on track.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe recognise that it\u2019s been frustrating for motorists during this brief period of uncertainty but despite the complexities involved, the good news is that we\u2019ve only lost a short amount of time and do not anticipate significant delay, if any, to the original project timetable.”<\/p>\n

Administrators were called in at Swansea-based Dawnus just over two weeks ago.<\/p>\n

Since then\u00a0Welsh civil engineering contractor Griffiths\u00a0has also secured a former project to re-start work on the stalled \u00a312m transformation of a key Swansea city centre route.<\/p>\n

And Kier has stepped in to build an \u00a311.8m pupil referral unit at Cockett House in Swansea.<\/p>\n
