{"id":4836,"date":"2019-04-10T07:40:20","date_gmt":"2019-04-10T07:40:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cita.co.uk\/news\/?p=4836"},"modified":"2019-04-10T07:40:20","modified_gmt":"2019-04-10T07:40:20","slug":"coveted-single-prequal-system-in-industrys-sights","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cita.co.uk\/news\/coveted-single-prequal-system-in-industrys-sights\/","title":{"rendered":"Coveted single prequal system in industry\u2019s sights"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"page\" title=\"Page 1\">\n<div class=\"section\">\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<p>Two of the country&#8217;s largest contractor trade bodies have launched the first phase of a plan to create a nationally recognised single prequalification system for construction.<\/p>\n<p>Build UK and the Civil Engineering Contractors Association believe they can save the industry up to \u00a31bn by eradicating duplication and inefficiencies if fresh moves gain acceptance.<\/p>\n<p>The multitude of schemes currently in operation sees around 180,000 specialist contractors producing over two million pieces of paper every year for 5,000 contractors.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\n<div class=\"ad-mpu ad-mpu-inline\">\n<div class=\"sleeve\"><a data-ad-id=\"170875\" href=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/themes\/constructionenquirer\/adclick.php?url=++https%3A%2F%2Fwww.mrcropper.co.uk%2F%3Futm_source%3DMr%2520Cropper%2520CE%2520MPU%2520Advert%26utm_medium%3DMPU%2520Digital%2520Advert%26utm_campaign%3DMr%2520Cropper%2520CE%2520MPU%2520Advert%26utm_term%3DMr%2520Cropper%2520CE%2520MPU%2520Advert%26utm_content%3DWebsite%3Futm_source%3Dconstruction-enquirer%26utm_medium%3Dbanner%26utm_campaign%3Dconstructionenq-ads\" onclick=\"track_ad_click(this);\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/37642-Mr Cropper 300x250px CE Ad.gif\"\/><\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>As a first step, the trade bodies are aiming to sign-up prequalification scheme providers to a new Common Assessment Standard, based on\u00a0the PAS 91 standard.\u00a0 This covers 10 key areas and includes desktop and site-based assessment criteria.<\/p>\n<p>Prequalification bodies &#8211; Achilles, CHAS and Constructionline &#8211; have signed up to\u00a0the Common Assessment Standard, marking a significant step towards the dream of a single prequalification system for all.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\n<div class=\"ad-mpu ad-mpu-inline\">\n<div class=\"sleeve\"><a data-ad-id=\"145884\" href=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/themes\/constructionenquirer\/adclick.php?url=https%3A%2F%2Fdemoexpo2019.com%2F%3Futm_source%3Dconstruction-enquirer%26utm_medium%3Dbanner%26utm_campaign%3Dconstructionenq-ads\" onclick=\"track_ad_click(this);\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/NFDC -
