{"id":4946,"date":"2019-04-15T07:14:09","date_gmt":"2019-04-15T07:14:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cita.co.uk\/news\/?p=4946"},"modified":"2019-04-15T07:14:09","modified_gmt":"2019-04-15T07:14:09","slug":"infrastructure-clients-lead-drive-to-eliminate-site-accidents","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cita.co.uk\/news\/infrastructure-clients-lead-drive-to-eliminate-site-accidents\/","title":{"rendered":"Infrastructure clients lead drive to eliminate site accidents"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Major clients are joining forces to push for a step change in the safety, health and well being of everyone involved in big UK infrastructure projects.<\/p>\n<p>Over the next 12 months representatives from the industry\u2019s major clients, contractors and supply chain have agreed to work together to tackle the causes of illness and injury in the sector.<\/p>\n<p>The initiative has been driven by the Infrastructure Client Group (ICG), which represents some of the country\u2019s largest client organisations.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ad-mpu ad-mpu-inline\">\n<div class=\"sleeve\"><a data-ad-id=\"163817\" href=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/themes\/constructionenquirer\/adclick.php?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.constructionenquirer.com%2Fdirectory%2F%3Futm_source%3Dconstruction-enquirer%26utm_medium%3Dbanner%26utm_campaign%3Dconstructionenq-ads\" onclick=\"track_ad_click(this);\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/enquirer_directory_mpu.gif\"\/><\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>ICG members include EDF Energy, Environment Agency, Heathrow, Highways England, HS2, National Grid, Sellafield Ltd, Tideway and Transport for London.<\/p>\n<p>The group have committed to initially tackle seven significant areas of risk this year:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>People &amp; Mobile plant<\/li>\n<li>Mental health<\/li>\n<li>Striking buried services<\/li>\n<li>Lifting operations<\/li>\n<li>Heavy goods vehicles operations<\/li>\n<li>Hand-arm vibration related disease<\/li>\n<li>Public safety<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>By April 2020 the group will develop a set of actions for each of these seven risk areas which will aim to eliminate the illness and injury caused by these risks by 2025 &#8211; not just reduce it.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ad-mpu ad-mpu-inline\">\n<div class=\"sleeve\"><a data-ad-id=\"209475\" href=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/themes\/constructionenquirer\/adclick.php?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.faset.org.uk%2Fmembers%2Ffaset-member-list%2F%3Futm_source%3Dconstruction-enquirer%26utm_medium%3Dbanner%26utm_campaign%3Dconstructionenq-ads\" onclick=\"track_ad_click(this);\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/CE_FASET-MPU_FEB19.gif\"\/><\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The actions will be developed to get industry-wide support and implementation. They will include standardised measures to assess current performance and to demonstrate improvement over time.<\/p>\n<p>ICG members will be supported by suppliers from across the sector, with many already volunteering to support the initiative.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ad-mpu ad-mpu-inline\">\n<div class=\"sleeve\"><a data-ad-id=\"153404\" href=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/themes\/constructionenquirer\/adclick.php?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.donseed.com%2Finformation%2Fintroducing-workplace%2F%3Futm_source%3DOnline%2520Advert%26utm_campaign%3DOnline%2520Ad%2520-%2520April%25202019%2520-%2520Construction%2520Enquirer%2520%28Workplace%29%3Futm_source%3Dconstruction-enquirer%26utm_medium%3Dbanner%26utm_campaign%3Dconstructionenq-ads\" onclick=\"track_ad_click(this);\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/image001.gif\"\/><\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Other clients and suppliers are also invited to sign up through the Civil Engineering Contractors Association, which is supporting the project.
