{"id":4984,"date":"2019-04-16T07:27:28","date_gmt":"2019-04-16T07:27:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cita.co.uk\/news\/?p=4984"},"modified":"2019-04-16T07:27:28","modified_gmt":"2019-04-16T07:27:28","slug":"galliford-try-profit-warning-sparks-construction-arm-review","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cita.co.uk\/news\/galliford-try-profit-warning-sparks-construction-arm-review\/","title":{"rendered":"Galliford Try profit warning sparks construction arm review"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ao\">Galliford Try is undertaking a strategic review of its construction business after issuing a fresh profit warning this morning.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ao\">The\u00a0firm said it aimed to reduce the size of the construction business, as it focused on key strengths in markets with sustainable prospects for profitability and growth.<\/p>\n<p>Galliford Try warned it expected to report pre-tax profits \u00a330m-\u00a340m below previous forecasts, after final settlement on the \u00a31.4bn Queensferry Crossing project.<\/p>\n<p>Galliford Try\u2019s joint venture with Dragados, Hochtief and American Bridge International had to meet costs of delays due to high winds on the Forth bridge project.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\n<div class=\"ad-mpu ad-mpu-inline\">\n<div class=\"sleeve\"><a data-ad-id=\"165577\" href=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/themes\/constructionenquirer\/adclick.php?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.haki.com%2F%3Futm_source%3Dconstruction-enquirer+%26utm_medium%3Ddisplay%26utm_campaign%3Dmorethan%3Futm_source%3Dconstruction-enquirer%26utm_medium%3Dbanner%26utm_campaign%3Dconstructionenq-ads\" onclick=\"track_ad_click(this);\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/HAKI MPU March 2019.gif\"\/><\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"ao\">In a statement\u00a0it\u00a0said:\u00a0 &#8220;The board anticipates that this review will result in reduced profitability in the current year reflecting a reassessment of positions in legacy and some current contracts and the effect of some recent adverse settlements, as well as the costs of the restructure.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"ao\">It said the single largest readjustment related to the Queensferry Crossing joint venture, which has recently increased its estimated final costs on the project.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\n<div class=\"ad-mpu ad-mpu-inline\">\n<div class=\"sleeve\"><a data-ad-id=\"134243\" href=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/themes\/constructionenquirer\/adclick.php?url=+https%3A%2F%2Fwww.vpgroundforce.com%2Fgb%2Fshoring-equipment%2F%3Futm_source%3DGroundforce%2520Shorco%2520CE%2520MPU%2520Advert%26utm_medium%3DMPU%2520Digital%2520Advert%26utm_campaign%3DGroundforce%2520Shorco%2520CE%2520MPU%2520Advert%26utm_term%3DGroundforce%2520Shorco%2520CE%2520MPU%2520Advert%26utm_content%3DWebsite++%3Futm_source%3Dconstruction-enquirer%26utm_medium%3Dbanner%26utm_campaign%3Dconstructionenq-ads\" onclick=\"track_ad_click(this);\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/37640-GF Shorco 300x250px CE Ad.gif\"\/><\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"ao\">It said its position over the claim covering the completed Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route, and the \u00a338m work in progress balance in respect of three contracts for a single client was unchanged.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ao\">The review will scrutinise contract positions throughout the construction business and assess operational progress.
