{"id":5124,"date":"2019-04-25T07:31:30","date_gmt":"2019-04-25T07:31:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cita.co.uk\/news\/?p=5124"},"modified":"2019-04-25T07:31:30","modified_gmt":"2019-04-25T07:31:30","slug":"mclaren-seals-first-job-in-1bn-barking-town-revamp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cita.co.uk\/news\/mclaren-seals-first-job-in-1bn-barking-town-revamp\/","title":{"rendered":"McLaren seals first job in \u00a31bn Barking town revamp"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The company behind the \u00a31bn regeneration of Barking town centre in East London has confirmed the appointment of McLaren Construction to build a flagship project.<\/p>\n<p>It will build 169 affordable and shared ownership homes in two high rise blocks on a former local authority car park at Linton Road, next to Barking station.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_284147\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Screenshot-2019-01-28-at-13.16.44.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-284147 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Screenshot-2019-01-28-at-13.16.44.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"954\" height=\"792\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Crown House contract includes a 20 storey and a 29 storey tower flanked by \u2018shoulder\u2019 buildings<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The council\u2019s wholly owned urban regeneration company Be First recently selected McLaren as one of seven partners on the town&#8217;s redevelopment framework.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\n<p>Pat Hayes, Managing Director of Be First, said: \u201cThe contract forms a vital part of our plans to build affordable homes and rejuvenate a neglected part of Barking town centre.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Darren Gill, Managing Director \u2013 London at McLaren Construction, said: \u201cWe recognise that the Crown House development is an important step in regenerating this part of the Barking Town Centre and are looking forward to delivering it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\n<p>The Linton Road development forms the first of a two-part scheme which will also see a separate contract for the demolition of Crown House, a dated 1960\u2019s office block, in favour of new flats rising to 29 storeys.<\/p>\n<p>The planning application for the Linton Road-Crown House development was approved in March 2019 and is currently being considered by the Mayor of London.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\n<p class=\"p1\">\n<p>from Construction Enquirer http:\/\/bit.ly\/2IH2Ico<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The company behind the \u00a31bn regeneration of Barking town centre in East London has confirmed the appointment of McLaren Construction to build a flagship project.
