The National Federation of Builders has formed a Major Contractors Group to represent larger companies.<\/p>\n

The NFB Major Contractors Group will initially consist of more than 30 companies with turnovers greater than \u00a340m.<\/p>\n

Group leaders are hoping to have the ear of politicians promising to “improve government understanding of larger construction businesses.”<\/p>\n

Big industry names are currently represented by Build UK which has 32 contractor members.<\/p>\n

The chair of the NFB Major Contractors Group is Mark Wakeford who is joint managing director of Stepnell Limited<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cWe are really proud to launch this group, which will give larger NFB members the opportunity to talk to the people who devise policy that ends up influencing their very own businesses.<\/p>\n

“The group will challenge many of the sector\u2019s misconceptions and be a talisman for best practice and future proofing the sector.\u201d<\/p>\n

It will be led by a board which will set the agenda that defines policy, contract terms, payment best practice, the impact of technology, skills and the impact of Brexit.<\/p>\n

The first meeting of the new group will be held in June.<\/p>\n
