The Ministry of Defence is preparing to tender a major enabling works package at its Northwood headquarters site as part of a wider redevelopment project.<\/p>\n

The works packages worth around \u00a3100m will cover construction of a new multi-storey car park and associated site development works at the Hertfordshire command centre.<\/p>\n

An official tender is expected to be published in October for a contract expected to run from April 2026 to September 2028.<\/p>\n

The enabling phase will pave the way for a larger redevelopment scheme at Northwood HQ, which acts as the UK’s permanent joint operations command centre and home to NATO\u2019s Allied Maritime Command.<\/p>\n

Planning consent for the overhaul was granted earlier this year under a Special Development Order, allowing the MoD to build up to 10,550m\u00b2 of extra residential space and nearly 29,000m\u00b2 of floorspace for other operational buildings.<\/p>\n
