{"id":5368,"date":"2025-05-13T07:46:41","date_gmt":"2025-05-13T07:46:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cita.co.uk\/news\/?p=5368"},"modified":"2025-05-13T07:46:41","modified_gmt":"2025-05-13T07:46:41","slug":"pension-giants-pledge-25bn-for-infrastructure-push","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cita.co.uk\/news\/pension-giants-pledge-25bn-for-infrastructure-push\/","title":{"rendered":"Pension giants pledge \u00a325bn for infrastructure push"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"\" data-start=\"52\" data-end=\"212\">Britain\u2019s biggest pension funds have signed up to a new Mansion House Accord that could unleash up to \u00a350bn of investment into UK infrastructure and businesses.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"214\" data-end=\"438\">Seventeen pension providers, managing around 90% of active workplace savers\u2019 defined contribution pots, are backing the deal which doubles last year\u2019s investment target and ringfences a minimum \u00a325bn for UK projects by 2030.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"440\" data-end=\"598\">The move aims to channel billions into clean energy, science, tech and infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"440\" data-end=\"598\">\n<div class=\"ad-mpu ad-mpu-inline\">\n<div class=\"sleeve\"><a data-ad-id=\"122945\" href=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/themes\/constructionenquirer\/adclick.php?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.eca.co.uk%2Fspecify%3Futm_source%3DConstruction-Enquirer%26utm_medium%3Dweb-banner%26utm_campaign%3DSpecifier-0525\" target=\"_blank\" onclick=\"track_ad_click(this);\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/ECA3777-Specifier-Banner-MPU-300x250px.gif\"\/><\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"600\" data-end=\"784\">Under the new Accord, providers have pledged to commit at least 10% of their workplace pension funds to private market assets, with at least 5% specifically invested in the UK economy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"786\" data-end=\"995\">The fresh push is part of the Government\u2019s wider Plan for Change, and comes ahead of the final Pensions Investment Review, which will propose reforms to create mega pension funds capable of competing globally.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"997\" data-end=\"1283\">Chancellor Rachel Reeves said: \u201cI welcome this bold step by some of our biggest pension funds, which will unlock billions for major infrastructure, clean energy, and exciting startups \u2014 delivering growth, boosting pension pots, and giving working people greater security in retirement.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"997\" data-end=\"1283\">\n<div class=\"ad-mpu ad-mpu-inline\">\n<div class=\"sleeve\"><a data-ad-id=\"487023\" href=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/themes\/constructionenquirer\/adclick.php?url=https%3A%2F%2Fgmsafedeck.com%2Fsafety-decking%2F%3Futm_source%3Dconstruction-enquirer%26utm_medium%3Dbanner%26utm_campaign%3Dconstructionenq-ads\" target=\"_blank\" onclick=\"track_ad_click(this);\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/4G&#038;M_SAFE-DECK_CE-MPU_24.gif\"\/><\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1285\" data-end=\"1400\">Minister for Pensions Torsten Bell added: \u201cThis supports better outcomes for savers and faster growth for Britain.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1402\" data-end=\"1632\">The new deal builds on the 2023 Mansion House Compact, which set a 5% voluntary investment target in unlisted firms.
