Spanish contractor Acciona has bagged a \u00a3400m job to overhaul Thames Water\u2019s Coppermills treatment works in north-east London.<\/p>\n

The project covers a huge package of civils and MEICA works to boost supply resilience and modernise ageing assets at the busy operational site in the Lea Valley.<\/p>\n

Key elements include a new 700 Ml\/day high lift pumping station, recirculation and run-to-waste systems for 32 slow sand filters, and upgrades to contact tanks and the existing power supply and distribution systems for the site.<\/p>\n

Thames is also developing options for a cryptosporidium treatment system and a dechlorination facility, which may be added to the scope.<\/p>\n

The new pumping station will be built within the footprint of an existing slow sand filter. It will link into the Thames Water Ring Main.<\/p>\n

Acciona is now tasked with delivering all design, procurement, construction, commissioning and decommissioning works under the negotiated procedure.<\/p>\n

The scheme forms part of Thames Water\u2019s conditional allowance programme to future-proof London\u2019s drinking water infrastructure.<\/p>\n
