A major regeneration push for Waterloo Station and the South Bank has regained momentum after Network Rail, Places for London, and Lambeth Council signed a new partnership agreement.<\/p>\n

The deal will see the trio collaborate on a long-term redevelopment vision for London\u2019s fourth busiest rail hub and its surrounding neighbourhood.<\/p>\n

The scheme aims to transform the station and improve the wider area\u2019s public spaces, access, and investment appeal while backing Lambeth\u2019s drive for more homes and business space.<\/p>\n

Architect Grimshaw has designed the outline revamp plan, which includes opening up boarded-up railway arches, a new southern station concourse and a large mansard rooftop extension along the station front entrance.<\/p>\n

Underutilised undercrofts to be opened up to improve passenger flows<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Robin Dobson, group property director at Network Rail, said the joint plan would \u201cunlock huge growth and investment opportunities\u201d across Waterloo and the South Bank.<\/p>\n

Graeme Craig, chief executive at Places for London \u2013 Transport for London\u2019s property arm \u2013 said the project would ensure passengers get the very best London has to offer at the historic hub.<\/p>\n

The entire project is anticipated to span 10 to 15 years, aiming to minimise public expenditure by leveraging private sector partnerships and commercial developments.<\/p>\n
