{"id":5620,"date":"2025-05-28T06:46:43","date_gmt":"2025-05-28T06:46:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cita.co.uk\/news\/?p=5620"},"modified":"2025-05-28T06:46:43","modified_gmt":"2025-05-28T06:46:43","slug":"cladding-costs-recovery-helps-willmott-dixon-return-to-profit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cita.co.uk\/news\/cladding-costs-recovery-helps-willmott-dixon-return-to-profit\/","title":{"rendered":"Cladding costs recovery helps Willmott Dixon return to profit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Recovering \u00a320m spent on cladding remediation work from third parties has helped Willmott Dixon return to profit.<\/p>\n<p>Tighter contract controls also contributed to the turnaround with pre-tax profits for 2024 at \u00a346.8m compared to a \u00a314.4m loss last time with turnover steady at \u00a31.2bn.<\/p>\n<p>Previous losses were partly down to significant provisions made for legacy cladding remediation works.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ad-mpu ad-mpu-inline\">\n<div class=\"sleeve\"><a data-ad-id=\"163817\" href=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/themes\/constructionenquirer\/adclick.php?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.constructionenquirer.com%2Fdirectory%2F%3Futm_source%3Dconstruction-enquirer%26utm_medium%3Dbanner%26utm_campaign%3Dconstructionenq-ads\" target=\"_blank\" onclick=\"track_ad_click(this);\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/enquirer_directory_mpu.gif\"\/><\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>But in the latest numbers Willmott Dixon has booked a positive exceptional item of \u00a320m after securing net recoveries from third parties while winning a record \u00a31.3bn in contract awards.<\/p>\n<p>Chief Executive Officer Graham Dundas said: \u201cWe\u2019re delighted to have returned to profit as we expected in 2024, responding strongly to a difficult economic environment in 2023, and adding a record \u00a31.3bn of new contract awards to our high-quality order book.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur strategies, including a more rigorous focus on contract selection, are generating much improved consistency in our financial performance, with all parts of the Group delivering a meaningful contribution to the welcome return to profit in 2024.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ad-mpu ad-mpu-inline\">\n<div class=\"sleeve\"><a data-ad-id=\"128950\" href=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/themes\/constructionenquirer\/adclick.php?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.jctltd.co.uk%2Fjct-construct%2Fdigital-subscriptions\" target=\"_blank\" onclick=\"track_ad_click(this);\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/JCT-Construct_ConstEnq_MPU_300x250px-2025.gif\"\/><\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cThese results, and the operational performance that underpins them, give us great momentum and a solid foundation to move on into 2025, backed up by a very strong cash position and a solid pipeline of opportunities. I look forward to the rest of the year with confidence and cautious optimism.<\/p>\n<p>On trading so far this year, Dundas said: \u201cWe\u2019ve started the current trading year strongly with secured and probable workload of 93% by March.
