{"id":6094,"date":"2025-06-19T08:46:49","date_gmt":"2025-06-19T08:46:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cita.co.uk\/news\/?p=6094"},"modified":"2025-06-19T08:46:49","modified_gmt":"2025-06-19T08:46:49","slug":"barhale-bags-16m-shaft-tank-for-severn-trent-water","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cita.co.uk\/news\/barhale-bags-16m-shaft-tank-for-severn-trent-water\/","title":{"rendered":"Barhale bags \u00a316m shaft tank for Severn Trent Water"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Severn Trent Water has awarded Barhale a \u00a316.35m contract to deliver the latest phase of a major infrastructure project at Etruria Vale in Stoke-on-Trent.<\/p>\n<p>The centrepiece of the scheme is a 20-metre diameter, 24-metre deep shaft tank, providing an additional 5,200m\u00b3 of overflow storage capacity.<\/p>\n<p>It will form a key element of the wider, multi-site Etruria Vale project, delivered under Severn Trent Water\u2019s Framework Directive Scheme.<\/p>\n<p>Barhale will construct the shaft using secant piling to create a circular retaining wall before excavation begins. Two connecting pipes \u2013 a 7.2-metre-long, 1200mm inlet and a 12-metre-long, 1050mm overflow \u2013 will link the structure to adjacent manholes.<\/p>\n<p>Barhale Director James Ingamells said: \u201cThe wider Etruria Vale project spans multiple sites, including the Lower Oxford Road CSO and Lower Oxford Road Shaft.The Etruria Vale shaft is the final piece in the puzzle. Its completion, and the extra capacity it brings, will make a significant improvement to the wastewater network in the area.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMost importantly, it will play a vital role in improving water quality in the Fowlea Brook \u2013 a key tributary of the River Trent.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEveryone at Barhale is proud to be entrusted by Severn Trent Water with this important scheme, and we look forward to continuing our collaboration to deliver it successfully.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ben King, Senior Project Manager for Severn Trent Water said: \u201cAs we begin AMP8, I\u2019m excited to begin work with Barhale on this project which will provide long-term benefits to Stoke-On-Trent.
