Contractor Aureos has landed the job to deliver the new \u00a345m Howden Relief Road in East Yorkshire.<\/p>\n

The Sheffield infrastructure specialist, rebranded after being sold by Keltbray, will break ground next month on the two-year scheme.<\/p>\n

The 1.2km Howden Relief Road which will link the A614 Thorpe Road with Station Road.<\/p>\n

The route, which includes four new roundabouts, will divert heavy traffic away from Howden town centre and paves the way to build 1,900 homes, a school, a pub and an additional factory for Howdens Joinery.<\/p>\n

Planned 460,000 Howden kitchen unit factory, designed by UMC Architects<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Aureos takes over the site following early enabling works last year by local Hull firm PBS Construction to build access roads and work compounds.<\/p>\n

The scheme is being funded by developer contributions and council support via Invest East Yorkshire \u2013 backed by a \u00a32m Devolution grant and \u00a31m Local Transport Grant.<\/p>\n

Aureos Highways managing director Louise Pavitt said: \u201cThis project is a critical step towards economic development in the region and will provide much needed highways improvements, opening up new routes and easing congestion.\u201d<\/p>\n

Construction will begin from the Thorpe Road side, progressing west, with drainage works including a new surface water pump station also planned.<\/p>\n
