C Spencer has secured the \u00a329m contract to deliver the relocated Waterbeach railway station in Cambridgeshire, despite Volker Fitzpatrick carrying out early contractor involvement on the scheme.<\/p>\n

The win sees Spencer take over the reins after Volker’s early input shaping the scheme\u2019s scope and construction strategy. <\/p>\n

The contract includes full design and build for a brand-new two-platform station, which will replace the existing facility.<\/p>\n

The relocated station forms a key part of the Greater Cambridge Partnership\u2019s infrastructure to support thousands of new homes at Waterbeach New Town.<\/p>\n

Works will include a new access road from Cody Road, 200-space car park, accessible footbridge with lifts, bus and taxi drop-off areas, SME route, cycle parking and enhanced public realm. <\/p>\n

Once complete, the station will transfer to Network Rail for long-term operation, with Great Northern continuing as the operator.<\/p>\n

WSP has led the ES4 preliminary design, while Sable Leigh Consultancy is acting as project manager and client rep.<\/p>\n

Only two bids were received for the job.<\/p>\n
