{"id":7258,"date":"2025-08-18T08:46:39","date_gmt":"2025-08-18T08:46:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cita.co.uk\/news\/?p=7258"},"modified":"2025-08-18T08:46:39","modified_gmt":"2025-08-18T08:46:39","slug":"work-to-rule-set-to-hit-sellafield-clean-up","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cita.co.uk\/news\/work-to-rule-set-to-hit-sellafield-clean-up\/","title":{"rendered":"Work-to-rule set to hit Sellafield clean-up"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Unite members at the Sellafield nuclear site in Cumbria are set to enact a work-to-rule policy from Saturday following a long running pay dispute.<\/p>\n<p>The move involves\u00a01,500 construction workers across 34 contractors across disciplines including electricians, joiners, pipe-fitters, riggers, welders, groundworkers and painters.<\/p>\n<p>A recent ballot returned a decisive mandate with well over 90 per cent support for strike and non-strike action.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ad-mpu ad-mpu-inline\">\n<div class=\"sleeve\"><a data-ad-id=\"163817\" href=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/themes\/constructionenquirer\/adclick.php?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.constructionenquirer.com%2Fdirectory%2F%3Futm_source%3Dconstruction-enquirer%26utm_medium%3Dbanner%26utm_campaign%3Dconstructionenq-ads\" target=\"_blank\" onclick=\"track_ad_click(this);\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/enquirer_directory_mpu.gif\"\/><\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Unite said employers have refused to pay Sellafield-specific allowances similar to other nuclear projects like Hinkley Point C and Sizewell C<\/p>\n<p>A work-to-rule will see vital clean-up programmes and infrastructure maintenance face disruption.<\/p>\n<p>Unite Regional Officer Ryan Armstrong said: \u201cThis action will inevitably result in work at Sellafield being delayed \u2013 but employers forced our hand by refusing to agree to our reasonable demand to other similar sites.
