Bouygues and Laing O’Rourke are facing prosecution by the\u00a0Office for Nuclear Regulation after an accident at Hinkley Point C.<\/p>\n

The incident on 20 August, 2022 saw an employee sustain serious injuries when a wall of rebar mesh fell on him as he was working to remove it from a vertical jig.<\/p>\n

The ONR said the incident was a conventional health and safety matter and there was no radiological risk to the public.<\/p>\n

Bouygues Travaux Publics SAS and Laing O\u2019Rourke Delivery Limited each face a single charge of failing to plan, manage and monitor construction work without risks to health and safety.<\/p>\n

The two contractors are the joint venture partners in BYLOR JV, delivering the main civil engineering works at the site.<\/p>\n

Details about the location and date of the first court hearing will be announced in due course.<\/p>\n
