{"id":7832,"date":"2025-09-16T07:46:58","date_gmt":"2025-09-16T07:46:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cita.co.uk\/news\/?p=7832"},"modified":"2025-09-16T07:46:58","modified_gmt":"2025-09-16T07:46:58","slug":"kier-chief-bows-out-on-a-high-with-record-11bn-pipeline","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cita.co.uk\/news\/kier-chief-bows-out-on-a-high-with-record-11bn-pipeline\/","title":{"rendered":"Kier chief bows out on a high with record \u00a311bn pipeline"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"229\" data-end=\"405\">Andrew Davies has bowed out after six years in charge of Kier, leaving the business with record orders, rising profits and revenue topping \u00a34bn for the first time since 2018.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"407\" data-end=\"570\">Pre-tax profit rose 15% to \u00a378m in the year to June 2025 on revenue up 4% to \u00a34.08bn.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"407\" data-end=\"570\">Adjusted operating margins edged up to 3.9%, just short of the group\u2019s long-term 4%\u20134.5% target.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"407\" data-end=\"570\">\n<div class=\"ad-mpu ad-mpu-inline\">\n<div class=\"sleeve\"><a data-ad-id=\"479429\" href=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/themes\/constructionenquirer\/adclick.php?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.vpgroundforce.com%2Fgb%2Fyoursolution%2F%3Futm_source%3Dconstruction-enquirer%26utm_medium%3Dbanner%26utm_campaign%3Dconstructionenq-ads\" target=\"_blank\" onclick=\"track_ad_click(this);\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/groundforceCE MPU 300 x 250.gif\"\/><\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p data-start=\"572\" data-end=\"769\">Davies hands over the running of the business to Stuart Togwell, currently Kier\u2019s group managing director of Construction, at the end of new month.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"572\" data-end=\"769\">He departs leaving his successor with a record order book at \u00a311bn, with 91% of next year\u2019s revenue already secured and about 70% of FY27 work locked in, giving the business its strongest visibility of future cashflows in years.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"771\" data-end=\"1009\">Kier\u2019s balance sheet is now also in far better shape, ending the year with \u00a3204m net cash compared to \u00a3167m last time.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"771\" data-end=\"1009\">Average month-end net debt has been cut to \u00a349m, a dramatic turnaround from the \u00a3422m burden Davies inherited when he took charge in 2019.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"771\" data-end=\"1009\">Infrastructure remained Kier\u2019s biggest earner, accounting for just over half of group revenue at \u00a32.14bn, up 7% on last year. Work on HS2 and growth in the water and nuclear markets offset delays in new road and rail programmes.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"771\" data-end=\"1009\">\n<div class=\"ad-mpu ad-mpu-inline\">\n<div class=\"sleeve\"><a data-ad-id=\"485184\" href=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/themes\/constructionenquirer\/adclick.php?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.vpgroundforce.com%2Fgb%2Fshoring-equipment%2Fmajor-projects%2F%23+%3Futm_source%3Dconstruction-enquirer%26utm_medium%3Dbanner%26utm_campaign%3Dconstructionenq-ads\" target=\"_blank\" onclick=\"track_ad_click(this);\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Groundforce Major Projects MPU Ad 300_250px.gif\"\/><\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p data-start=\"771\" data-end=\"1009\">Pre-tax contribution slipped slightly after a one-off \u00a36m claim boosted last year\u2019s numbers, with reported operating profit steady at \u00a389.5m. Margins in the division eased to 5.2%.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"771\" data-end=\"1009\">Kier&#8217;s construction arm held revenue flat at \u00a31.91bn, with profit lifted by 8% to \u00a375m as margins improved to 3.9%.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"771\" data-end=\"1009\">Construction benefitted from a better mix of projects, handing over the new HMP Millsike prison and starting work on the flagship HMP Glasgow scheme.
