{"id":7916,"date":"2025-09-19T06:46:54","date_gmt":"2025-09-19T06:46:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cita.co.uk\/news\/?p=7916"},"modified":"2025-09-19T06:46:54","modified_gmt":"2025-09-19T06:46:54","slug":"bear-scotland-road-workers-vote-to-strike-over-pay","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cita.co.uk\/news\/bear-scotland-road-workers-vote-to-strike-over-pay\/","title":{"rendered":"Bear Scotland road workers vote to strike over pay"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"264\" data-end=\"421\">Road maintenance workers at Bear Scotland have overwhelmingly backed industrial action in a row over low pay.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"423\" data-end=\"622\">The dispute involves dozens of Inverness-based staff who maintain and keep safe key routes across central Scotland and the Highlands, including tsupporting the A9 Dualling programme between Perth and Inverness.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"624\" data-end=\"826\">Workers have thrown out a pay offer from Bear which would have lifted the lowest rate from \u00a312 to \u00a312.75 an hour and increase the top grade from \u00a313.25 to \u00a314.25.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"624\" data-end=\"826\">\n<div class=\"ad-mpu ad-mpu-inline\">\n<div class=\"sleeve\"><a data-ad-id=\"158465\" href=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/themes\/constructionenquirer\/adclick.php?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.agd-equipment.co.uk%3Futm_source%3Dconstruction-enquirer%26utm_medium%3Dbanner%26utm_campaign%3Dconstructionenq-ads\" target=\"_blank\" onclick=\"track_ad_click(this);\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/AGD-ADVERT-2023.gif\"\/><\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p data-start=\"624\" data-end=\"826\">Construction union Unite said the offer fell short of what workers received at rival contractors that pay up to \u00a316 an hour for similar work.<\/p>\n<p>Unite industrial officer Marc Jackson said:\u201cThe workers are essential to one of the nation\u2019s key transport infrastructure upgrades, yet they are being treated poorly by Bear Scotland and paid well below workers at other maintenance companies.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBear needs to get back round the negotiating table with an improved pay offer.
