{"id":8162,"date":"2025-10-01T07:46:41","date_gmt":"2025-10-01T07:46:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cita.co.uk\/news\/?p=8162"},"modified":"2025-10-01T07:46:41","modified_gmt":"2025-10-01T07:46:41","slug":"architect-appointed-interim-chief-construction-adviser","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cita.co.uk\/news\/architect-appointed-interim-chief-construction-adviser\/","title":{"rendered":"Architect appointed interim Chief Construction Adviser"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Architect Thouria Istephan has been appointed as the new interim Chief Construction Adviser to provide independent advice to ministers and government on building safety and regulatory reform.<\/p>\n<p>Istephan will &#8220;play a central role helping to shape the future of the built environment sector, ensuring that safety, delivery and accountability are central to decision-making, with residents\u2019 voices at heart.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Her appointment marks a key milestone fulfilling the government\u2019s response to the Grenfell Tower Inquiry Phase 2 recommendations.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ad-mpu ad-mpu-inline\">\n<div class=\"sleeve\"><a data-ad-id=\"479429\" href=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/themes\/constructionenquirer\/adclick.php?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.vpgroundforce.com%2Fgb%2Fyoursolution%2F%3Futm_source%3Dconstruction-enquirer%26utm_medium%3Dbanner%26utm_campaign%3Dconstructionenq-ads\" target=\"_blank\" onclick=\"track_ad_click(this);\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/groundforceCE MPU 300 x 250.gif\"\/><\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Istephan was a member of the Grenfell Tower Inquiry panel and has more than 25 years of experience at architect Foster and Partners.<\/p>\n<p>The role of Chief Construction Adviser was created in 2009 but discontinued in 2015 before the Grenfell inquiry recommended its reintroduction.<\/p>\n<p>The previous incumbents were quantity surveyor Paul Morrell and civil engineer Peter Hansford.<\/p>\n<p>The Minister for Building Safety Samantha Dixon said: &#8220;Ms Istephan brings extensive experience and a strong commitment to public service that will bring valuable insight and meaningful change to building safety in this country.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ad-mpu ad-mpu-inline\">\n<div class=\"sleeve\"><a data-ad-id=\"495477\" href=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/themes\/constructionenquirer\/adclick.php?url=https%3A%2F%2Feu1.hubs.ly%2FH0m_qXT0%3Futm_source%3Dconstruction-enquirer%26utm_medium%3Dbanner%26utm_campaign%3Dconstructionenq-ads\" target=\"_blank\" onclick=\"track_ad_click(this);\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/MPU_KH_OptionAvC.gif\"\/><\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&#8220;Her work will drive the transformation needed to restore trust and improve safety, accountability and confidence across the sector.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Istephan said: &#8220;This role enables me to apply my extensive architectural experience, together with insights gained through my work on the Grenfell Tower Inquiry.
