Lee Properties Limited and LJH Property Limited were fined a combined total of more than \u00a395,000. Directors for each firm were also given conditional discharges and ordered to pay prosecution costs.<\/p>\n<p>The victim suffered leg injuries after falling at Cirteq Ltd in Keighley, on 8 July 2022.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ad-mpu ad-mpu-inline\">\n<div class=\"sleeve\"><a data-ad-id=\"431748\" href=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/themes\/constructionenquirer\/adclick.php?url=https%3A%2F%2Fvacukltd.co.uk%2F%3Futm_source%3Dconstruction-enquirer%26utm_medium%3Dbanner%26utm_campaign%3Dconstructionenq-ads\" target=\"_blank\" onclick=\"track_ad_click(this);\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/VACUK_V4.gif\"\/><\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>He had been over-cladding an existing asbestos cement roof with two other operatives when he stepped onto a fragile rooflight, causing him to fall through and narrowly miss a machine operator working below.<\/p>\n<p>Firefighters were called to assist in rescuing the worker, who had landed on machinery, impaling his leg. Despite the horrific circumstances, he sustained relatively minor injuries.<\/p>\n<p>An HSE investigation found that principal contractor A.T. Lee Properties Limited failed to ensure the works were properly planned, and that neither they nor their sub-contractor, LJH Property Limited, had effective preventative and protective measures in place to control the risks associated with roof work.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ad-mpu ad-mpu-inline\">\n<div class=\"sleeve\"><a data-ad-id=\"92582\" href=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/themes\/constructionenquirer\/adclick.php?url=https%3A%2F%2Fbit.ly%2F3KAlSlI%3Futm_source%3Dconstruction-enquirer%26utm_medium%3Dbanner%26utm_campaign%3Dconstructionenq-ads\" target=\"_blank\" onclick=\"track_ad_click(this);\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Lynch MPU Ad.jpg\"\/><\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>They also failed to ensure that the correct equipment and tools were in place to undertake the work safely.<\/p>\n<p>A.T. Lee Properties Limited, of Skipton, North Yorkshire, pleaded guilty to safety breaches and was fined \u00a347,783 and ordered to pay \u00a32,386 in costs at Leeds Magistrates\u2019 Court.<\/p>\n<p>Company director Neil Cryer also pleaded guilty and\u00a0 received a two-year conditional discharge and was ordered to pay \u00a32,369 in costs.<\/p>\n<p>LJH Property Limited, of\u00a0 Shipley pleaded guilty to safety breaches and was fined \u00a347,818 and ordered to pay \u00a32,518 in costs.<\/p>\n<p>Company director Luke Hudson also pleaded guilty and received a two-year conditional discharge and was ordered to pay \u00a323,69 in costs.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_502445\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/LJH-Property-and-A.T.-Lee3-768x1024-1.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-502445\" src=\"https:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/LJH-Property-and-A.T.-Lee3-768x1024-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">After falling through the rooflight he was impaled on machinery below<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>HSE principal inspector Paul Thompson, who investigated the incident, said: \u201cPeople working on the roof and those working below within the factory were placed at serious risk.
