{"id":8558,"date":"2025-10-20T09:19:25","date_gmt":"2025-10-20T09:19:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cita.co.uk\/news\/?p=8558"},"modified":"2025-10-20T09:19:25","modified_gmt":"2025-10-20T09:19:25","slug":"qs-shortage-hampering-half-of-all-projects","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cita.co.uk\/news\/qs-shortage-hampering-half-of-all-projects\/","title":{"rendered":"QS shortage hampering half of all projects"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A shortage of quantity surveyors is hampering capacity and output on more than a half of construction jobs.<\/p>\n<p>Alarming research from the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) paints a gloomy picture of an ageing army of QSs not being replaced fast enough by new entrants.<\/p>\n<p>Nearly one-third of respondents described the shortfall as critical while more than half said the shortage is reducing work capacity and output.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ad-mpu ad-mpu-inline\">\n<div class=\"sleeve\"><a data-ad-id=\"127094\" href=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/themes\/constructionenquirer\/adclick.php?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.fawkesandreecepartner.co.uk%2F%3Futm_source%3Dconstruction-enquirer%26utm_medium%3Dbanner%26utm_campaign%3Dconstructionenq-ads\" target=\"_blank\" onclick=\"track_ad_click(this);\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/mclaren gif.gif\"\/><\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>When asked about solutions to the skills crisis surveyors pointed to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>More apprenticeships and work-based learning opportunities<\/li>\n<li>Better promotion of surveying careers<\/li>\n<li>Upskilling existing professionals<\/li>\n<li>Stronger collaboration between academia and industry<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>RICS Acting President, Nick Maclean, said: \u201cThe results speak for themselves &#8211; there is an enormous demand for surveyors.
