{"id":8634,"date":"2025-10-23T07:46:59","date_gmt":"2025-10-23T07:46:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cita.co.uk\/news\/?p=8634"},"modified":"2025-10-23T07:46:59","modified_gmt":"2025-10-23T07:46:59","slug":"laing-orourke-gets-go-ahead-for-halifax-hospital-upgrade","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cita.co.uk\/news\/laing-orourke-gets-go-ahead-for-halifax-hospital-upgrade\/","title":{"rendered":"Laing O\u2019Rourke gets go-ahead for Halifax hospital upgrade"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Laing O\u2019Rourke\u2019s plans for a major new clinical building at Calderdale Royal Hospital have been approved by councillors, clearing the way for construction to start in summer 2026.<\/p>\n<p>The landmark project will include separate emergency departments for adults and children, along with eight new wards, and is expected to complete in 2029.<\/p>\n<p>It forms a major part of a planned \u00a3200m investment in upgrading hospital facilities in Halifax.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ad-mpu ad-mpu-inline\">\n<div class=\"sleeve\"><a data-ad-id=\"500482\" href=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/themes\/constructionenquirer\/adclick.php?url=https%3A%2F%2Fsolatube.co.uk%2Fcommercial%2F%3Futm_source%3Dconstruction-enquirer%26utm_medium%3Dbanner%26utm_campaign%3Dconstructionenq-ads\" target=\"_blank\" onclick=\"track_ad_click(this);\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Sola Systems Display Button (300 x 250 px) (3).gif\"\/><\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Reserved matters approval from Calderdale Council means the design, appearance, layout and landscaping have all been signed off, confirming a major step in the hospital\u2019s long-term redevelopment.<\/p>\n<p>The new block has been designed to reflect Halifax\u2019s architectural heritage while linking seamlessly with the existing estate. Sustainability is central to the design, which targets a BREEAM Excellent rating through high energy efficiency, waste reduction, and biodiversity measures.<\/p>\n<p>Laing O\u2019Rourke was appointed in 2024 to lead the design and planning work.
