{"id":8668,"date":"2025-10-24T07:46:39","date_gmt":"2025-10-24T07:46:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cita.co.uk\/news\/?p=8668"},"modified":"2025-10-24T07:46:39","modified_gmt":"2025-10-24T07:46:39","slug":"jba-bentley-starts-19m-sheffield-flood-defence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cita.co.uk\/news\/jba-bentley-starts-19m-sheffield-flood-defence\/","title":{"rendered":"JBA Bentley starts \u00a319m Sheffield flood defence"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>JBA Bentley has started work on a \u00a319m flood defence scheme at Sheffield Forgemasters\u2019 Brightside Lane site.<\/p>\n<p>The two-year civil engineering job will protect the steelworks and wider Lower Don Valley from repeat flooding by intercepting Bagley Brook where it enters the plant.<\/p>\n<p>A major underground system of attenuation tanks, transfer tunnels and a new pumping station will capture and store stormwater before releasing it into the River Don at a controlled rate of 8,000 litres per second.<\/p>\n<p>JBA Bentley will sink a 5-metre shaft to launch a tunnel boring machine that will drive a 320-metre tunnel, 12 metres below ground.
