Amazon has submitted plans to build a 330,000 sq ft data centre complex at Iver in Buckinghamshire.<\/p>\n

The tech giant wants to demolish all existing buildings at the Ridgeway Distribution Centre and redevelop the site into a high-security, two-storey data facility standing 24m tall.<\/p>\n

The scheme will house twin stacked data halls, each 8.5m high, designed around Amazon\u2019s latest modular format to boost energy efficiency and airflow performance.<\/p>\n

A lower-rise administration block fronts the main entrance, while the northern elevation will be screened by a generator yard containing 27 emergency back-up units and 24m high exhaust stacks.<\/p>\n

The project also includes a substation compound with two switchrooms, a medium-voltage building, sprinkler pumphouse, water tanks, diesel storage and a bin store, all enclosed by 2.4m-high security fencing.<\/p>\n

Construction is expected to take between 24 and 36 months, supporting around 350 direct site jobs and over 1,000 more through the local supply chain.<\/p>\n

Dublin practice MCA Architects is leading design, supported by civil and structural engineer Cronin & Sutton Consulting, M&E engineer Ethos, and high voltage consultant H&MV Engineering.<\/p>\n

The Iver project forms part of Amazon\u2019s \u00a38bn UK data-centre expansion running through to 2028 \u2014 forecast to add \u00a314bn to GDP and support more than 14,000 full-time equivalent jobs a year across its UK supply chain.<\/p>\n

Amazon said the build will align with its global net-zero carbon target for 2040, adding that all electricity for its UK data centres has been matched with 100% renewable energy since 2023.<\/p>\n
