shortlisted for 725 homes at \u00a36bn Meridian Water"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Four major developers and housing associations have been shortlisted for the first housing site at the vast Meridian Water scheme in North London.<\/p>\n<p>More than 10 firms submitted bids to Enfield Council, which then whittled the list down to Galliford Try, L&amp;Q, Peabody and Redrow.<\/p>\n<p>The first 725 homes will be built around the new Meridian Water train station, alongside new public spaces, shops and leisure facilities.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\n<div class=\"ad-mpu ad-mpu-inline\">\n<div class=\"sleeve\"><a data-ad-id=\"122945\" href=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/themes\/constructionenquirer\/adclick.php?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.eca.co.uk%2Fwhy-the-eca%2Fclients-specifiers\" onclick=\"track_ad_click(this);\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/ECA-Specifier-300x250-blue.gif\"\/><\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Meridian One is one of the first sites being offered for procurement via the GLA\u2019s new London Development Panel to potential developer partners, accelerating the delivery of hundreds of new affordable and private homes.<\/p>\n<p>Outline planning consent is already in place for these new homes, with construction enabling works having already started two years ago.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_259607\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Remediation-work-taking-place-for-Meridian-One-courtesy-of-Enfield-Council.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-259607 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Remediation-work-taking-place-for-Meridian-One-courtesy-of-Enfield-Council.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"660\" height=\"441\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Enabling works underway for Meridian Water which will ultimately provide 10,000 new homes<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The first homes will be delivered around the brand new Meridian Water train station, which is due to open in summer 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Councillor Nesil Caliskan, Leader of Enfield Council, said of the shortlist: \u201cThis is another clear demonstration of the progress we\u2019re making at Meridian Water and the confidence the development community has shown in the Council to deliver one of London\u2019s most exciting regeneration projects.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is the Council\u2019s aspiration to create a new destination where local residents and Londoners can afford to live in a vibrant and exciting setting.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_259609\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Aerial.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Completed scheme in Upper Edmonton<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cBy taking control of the vision for Meridian Water and overseeing its delivery, we are now able to select the right development partner for each phase and accelerate the delivery of the first housing site at Meridian One.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>An announcement on the chosen development partner will likely be made in spring 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Progress is also being made on bringing forward a further housing site for Meridian Two at Leeside Road, which will deliver 200 affordable homes, earmarked for \u2018makers and creators\u2019 that will use new workspaces on the lower floors.<\/p>\n<p>This will be complemented by a new employment hub for around 900 new jobs at a 2-3 acre site along the North Circular.<\/p>\n<p>The council is also progressing a detailed business case for the Housing Infrastructure Fund, which if secured in full, will see \u00a3156m of government funding to connect all parts of Meridian Water to the new train station.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\n<div class=\"ad-mpu ad-mpu-inline\">\n<div class=\"sleeve\"><a data-ad-id=\"170875\"
