{"id":8982,"date":"2025-11-11T07:46:53","date_gmt":"2025-11-11T07:46:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cita.co.uk\/news\/?p=8982"},"modified":"2025-11-11T07:46:53","modified_gmt":"2025-11-11T07:46:53","slug":"green-light-nears-for-edinburghs-1-3bn-coastal-town","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cita.co.uk\/news\/green-light-nears-for-edinburghs-1-3bn-coastal-town\/","title":{"rendered":"Green light nears for Edinburgh\u2019s \u00a31.3bn coastal town"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The \u00a31.3bn regeneration of Edinburgh\u2019s Granton Waterfront is set to hit its next major milestone with approval of the business case for phase one of the city\u2019s new coastal neighbourhood.<\/p>\n<p>The first phase of the 10-year plan will see 847 new net-zero-ready homes built in partnership with Cruden Homes on the capital\u2019s largest brownfield site.<\/p>\n<p>At least 45% of the homes will be affordable, including 214 for social rent, with the remainder split between mid-market rent and open-market sale.<br \/>\nAll will be heated by air-source heat pumps.<\/p>\n<p>The plans include retail and leisure facilities, and a new primary school to be procured separately.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_503248\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Screenshot-2025-11-11-at-07.18.15.png\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-503248 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Screenshot-2025-11-11-at-07.18.15.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1202\" height=\"892\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Phase 1 plan to be delivered by Cruden around old gas holder site<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Cruden Homes managing director Fraser Lynes said the developer was proud to help shape a distinctive new coastal neighbourhood with energy-efficient homes and community benefits such as apprenticeships and local supply-chain investment.<\/p>\n<p>Work is due to start early next year with completion in 2033.
